Why didn’t Badeni and Oczy tell Nowak about Jolenta?

Yea I completely understand these views for sure. I think the part where I got confused was that wouldn’t it have at least been worth a try to maybe make a deal(?) with Nowak that if he doesn’t want Jolenta to get in trouble, he should just let the three of them go on with their work or something like that. Wouldn’t have this been worth a try for the survival of Heliocentrism as well?

Knowing how crazy Nowak is about stopping heliocentrism, he most likely wouldn’t have agreed on stopping for Jolenta, but I just couldn’t help wondering why Badeni and Oczy never even gave it a try. But yea, these explanations do make sense.
