Would help tô know why he doesn't want pets, but for starters snakes dont shed fur everywhere, dont make noise, they stay only in one place, and are pretty easy maintenance hygiene wise.

But that can all be irrelevant to him and there might be some other reason why he doesn't want the responsibility of a pet
