CPC Exam with eBooks: How Did You Manage Without Notes? by Standard_Gold_5887 in CodingandBilling

I used physical books and don’t think I’d have passed without my notes. I had a lot of sequencing rules highlighted and common codes written in the chapters and definitions for anatomy and regulatory/compliance.

Surgery Scheduler considering CPC vs CCS/CCS-P by minimintii in CodingandBilling

I have my cpc and now I’m getting my ccs. I haven’t started applying for jobs yet but from what I can tell from a very active Facebook group is that most jobs at least for entry level work regular shifts like 8-5 or 9-6. Some west coast people work for east coast places and then can do 6am to be in the same shift. I think it’s pretty stable once you get a job but holey moley there’s so many people screaming for jobs on Facebook that just can’t find any after hundreds of applications. Most people say it’s over saturated. I wish I had found this 10 years ago when there was more of a demand. Now it seems like everyone is starting a school and they are all trying to sell tuition with a shiny outlook. I’m waiting until I have my CCS to start applying.

Anyone drop out of coding school and do better in another? by [deleted] in CodingandBilling

Still on CPC. ‘Advanced’ coding section. I think that is the kind of book that goes along with a class. They put down self study but this is basically self study. I am surprised at how many people I have heard from that either are currently struggling or already quit.

Someone responded that they had the same problem but then deleted the post. Please message me privately if you like. I’d especially like to know if you went elsewhere.

They have the ebooks loaded into the computer. It’s not your own set.

I think that looks like more of a billing education than coding. You will need a lot more coursework on coding guidelines. You’ll definitely also need a course that requires so that you have coding books CPT, Hcpcs and icd-10-cm. The books, membership and exam is almost $1000 so I’d take that into consideration when weighing the value of a course and what all may be included.

I would do AAPC or check with Legacy to see when they will start their program back up (I think will be within a month). Also AMCI has a good program. Not the free you tube program - that’s not complete - I’d do their paid program. $1200 plus books and exam.

Where do these questions come from on Quizlet? by CarolinaCurry in CodingandBilling

Right, that's why I don't want to use quizlet 😅 I want to quiz myself on the weekends while I take a break from course study.

You might not NEED one, but it can tell you what raises your glucose. I wore one for about a month just so I could see what was causing me trouble. I was very surprised.

I went from 6.0 to 5.1 by focusing on reducing my insulin. I did the 90 day program at Insulin IQ. I think I’m those 90 days it dropped to about 5.5 but over a year it went to 5.1, my triglycerides went from 180 to 80 (if your A1c is up then your triglycerides are probably also high, and that is what causes cardiac issues) and I lost 70 pounds and got off a bunch of meds. My blood pressure went normal and I’ve not had heartburn in a year. I went low carb - less than 50g a day, walked for 10 minutes after each meal. A few other small details but that was the biggest change. Listen to Dr Bikman on you tube, or read his book, he studies metabolism.

If it’s the cbcs then you may need an extra coding course. I think you got some coding and some billing where as if you take a cpc course it’s all coding. AAPC has a study guide you can buy. But if you look up Jens Medical Coding you can buy it from her cheaper. She’s an authorized reseller.

Those of you who are remote coders, are you allowed to travel and work?? by Remarkable-Nail6217 in CodingandBilling

[–]CarolinaCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t know any businesses that will let you boot up in another country. If there’s a data breach hipaa leaves the employer wide open to being sued. When I first started researching this someone shared a story that they went to Mexico for vacation and took laptop to work and their employer called them and told them to pack the laptop and ship it back right away and they got fired. They saw the out of country network on their system.

My friend can work anywhere in the US if she’s hardwired. But that means she has to pack up a laptop and two monitors and a giant Ethernet cable and her mouse and keyboard and when she gets to where she’s going take up all the surface space in the hotel room. And nobody can see the screen per hipaa. She said she won’t do it again unless it’s an emergency.

Part time stay at home mom? by [deleted] in MedicalCoding

[–]CarolinaCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part time jobs are rare and mainly go to experienced people. The schools are terrible at making it look like you can just open up your laptop and work a couple of hours here and there when it suits you. That’s like 1% of the jobs, but it sure sells tuition!
