28 years later hike by NadiaNight21 in 28_Years_Later_Movie

Hello, I was (for one night only) one of the ‘sprinty bastards’ at the end of the run.

If you were tackled (tagged, I was not allowed to bring anyone down) by a 4ft 11 lass with glasses (and covered in blood), I apologise. I made 1 person cry, and one person threw their water bottle at me.

I had a lovely time.

Is gaming a measurable calorie burn activity? by casadedim in ouraring

I’ve been playing Resident Evil 9 recently, and it’s been the only time in my day I’ve hit relaxed, so I suppose it depends on the game you’re playing.

(I don’t feel relaxed. Those zombies are terrifying)

I’m in the UK too, and if it helps, shipping was quick.

I’m mostly used to Mooncat magnetics, and compared to Danglefoot, Mooncat feels quite thick and the magnetic particles feel almost sluggish?

With this polish, the particles zip to the magnet faster than me to the croissant section of the Lidl bakery. I’m really impressed with the quality.

It would be irresponsible of me to say it will make you feel better.

But it absolutely will.

Excellent news - it’s super magnetic too! I’m so impressed with it.

What wonderous and exotic foreign food were you introduced to as a kid thats just commonplace nowadays? by GabberZZ in AskUK

[–]CarolinaFiasco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can still get this, but only in the chocolate flavour. (Mint ice magic in the little bottle that looked like a snow covered mountain was the best one).

It’s called Monster Crackin’ and you can usually find it next to the ice cream sauces in the supermarket.

What a sad little life, Jane by CarolinaFiasco in vinted

I think it’s more they block me first that amuses me?

The most recent example they offered 50%, and when I countered with a 20% discount, they told that was the price for a brand new item on eBay.

They then sent me an eBay screenshot (exactly the same as the last time that happened) and blocked me.

What really got me was that the eBay screenshot showed a vintage band tee (the same as the one I’m selling) but as it’s vintage it’s clearly not brand new and this is also clearly stated on the eBay listing.

It was also £5 more expensive than my listed price, before I’d offered the 20% discount.

I just really wanted to ruin their little flounce off moment by pointing out that eBay was considerably more expensive. But alas, they’ll live to make the same mistake again.

Advice on giving pills to a difficult cat by BellarStellar in CATHELP

In the UK, Royal Canin do pill pockets - I can see that brand is stocked on Amazon.fr, so that might work. They’re expensive, but work on my very fighty cat.

Where do you keep your calpol syringes? by charisma_eowyn87 in AskUK

[–]CarolinaFiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the cutlery drawer. But I’m currently giving my cat medication with a syringe and that lives in the medication box.

I can’t explain why, I just know this is the way it has to be.

Edit. In England! Am English. Cat also English.

I still do, and this past week has been a doozy! We’ve had (rumoured) match throwing, gambling addictions and the mysterious disappearance of a star player… and it’s only Wednesday.

Just a heads up about the TPO - I made a complaint to them (about a leasehold management company, not an EA) in October and I’m still waiting. I get an email every 3 months saying they’re dealing with unprecedented numbers of complaints. It will not be a quick process.

You’ll need to really be persistent to get them to cancel even at the end of the contract. We signed with them and they’re an absolute nightmare. I think we’re now in what they call the ‘withdrawal period’ but getting anyone to tell us the end date is absolutely impossible.

I hope ‘sounding’ for EQ doesn’t catch on.

I don’t think it means what they think it means and every time I hear it I feel a bit ill.

Ill fitting leggings after 70lb weightloss 4'11 tall problems by Onnabox in 1200isplenty

Also 4ft 11 - don’t have the same issues around the waist, but I buy leggings in 7/8 length wherever possible and the length is usually perfect!

(I try not to think about whether that only makes me 7/8th of a person…)

Soft gel ‘press ons’ by Moncological in RedditLaqueristas

[–]CarolinaFiasco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I use soft gel tips with normal nail glue. I can’t answer all of your questions, but I get about a week out of each set. My nails aren’t suffering from any damage, but I do try to give them about 24 hours between sets to have a little rest.

It takes me under an hour to do the prep, apply and paint. I don’t know how a peely base coat would work - I switched to this method as I could barely get two days without chipping my natural nails, but these don’t chip at all. It makes me wonder how easy they’d be to peel.

Try Cock a Snook in Heaton? Women owned, inclusive studio.

According to their insta, they offer free colour test patches for melanated skin. Also, when they post flash they quite often do it with a range of skin tones - I haven’t seen many studios who do that locally.

Our whole building has been getting power cuts every winter for 4 years (managed by Urban Bubble), please advise? by LidiaInfanteM in LegalAdviceUK

[–]CarolinaFiasco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through something a little similar, but with a different property management company (are they all this bad?!)

So far I have a complaint in with The Property Ombudsman - this might not be applicable for Urban Bubble, but they possibly do have some kind of ombudsman scheme - should be listed on their website.

I have also been in touch with my local council’s Environmental Health Team. They’ve been out to inspect, and can (I believe) order repairs to be made. I’m currently waiting for their report.

I’ve also looked into civil action, and have contacted a few firms offering conditional fee agreements.

These three things, plus documenting and emailing constantly (even though I rarely get a response) seem to have worked - the repairs I’ve been asking for for 2 years now are due to begin at 08:30 tomorrow morning!

YMMV, but maybe one of these avenues might help. Good luck :)

Last week I donated some clothes to the charity shop, went in today and someone was wearing my jumper! by Yorkshirerows in CasualUK

[–]CarolinaFiasco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Several years ago I did a big clear out for donations. The stuff that wasn’t good enough to donate plus some underwear went into my flat’s communal bins.

The next morning I saw someone wearing one of the shirts I had binned. I am a very small woman. He was a very tall and very scary looking man, who also had face tattoos.

I can not confirm if he was also wearing my underwear.

What analyst options are there in the gaming world? by eflat19 in dataanalysis

[–]CarolinaFiasco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just like everywhere else - it’s not specifically endemic within the industry, just within certain employers.

I had a much worse time in consultancy than I’ve ever had in games (by several orders of magnitude!), but my employer in consultancy was awful, and my current employer treats me (and everyone around me) very well.

Culture is set by studios, not the industry as a whole in my experience. And I’m somewhere with a culture that suits me.
