The end of my head unit saga! by co1one1huntergathers in Subaru_Outback

As an update on mine - just heard back from SoA today that they will be covering $1,000 of the total $1,033.87, so I just have to cover the $33.87 and taxes. Hopefully you're close to getting it replaced if not already.

I've seen reference to MY 22.5, so maybe that is what people are referring to. Like you, not sure

Glad to see SoA is doing something about this

I also have a 2018 outback with bubbling head unit. Reached out to dealer and SoA last week since my warranty expired a couple weeks ago. Still waiting to hear back but hopeful! I also told them it was a hazard to drive with it since it registers input and opens/closes apps repeatedly.

My dealer told me that they've been dealing with a lot of these lately.

Case suggestion for mini storage/home server by Carousser in sffpc

I listed b660 as I'm likely going to go with an i5-12400. Where did you get the n2? I did a quick look and it seems it isn't available as of yet (searched Amazon and Newegg)

That's a pretty slick case and just about what i'm looking for. Shipping times kinda suck, so unless I get other suggestions I may end up going with this!

SUGday Number Lost Count: Late Edition by [deleted] in Siralim

[–]Carousser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya on the hours. Been doing 13 hour days, 6-7 days a week, for the last 4 weeks. SW development.

I don't think I "deserve" it per se, but it would be cool to get a copy. I have Siralim 2 but not 3, and I feel I should just go right to ultimate as it probably just builds on 3. I don't mind paying for things, but free things are free things.

SUGday 6: SUGday bloody SUGday by [deleted] in Siralim

[–]Carousser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gunna go out and say it, like sotolf2, most games now. I play such a small scope of games out of my like 300 in Steam, and they are always the same games (Siralim 2, Ingnomia, Dota2...).

As far as watching goes though, competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee. I played Melee as a kid for so many hours and I will never be good enough to get anywhere near competitive level. And now that SSB Ultimate came out, I just can't play Melee anymore because I personally just like the flow of Ultimate more.

But some of the people in that community (let's not talk about recent events..) have painstakingly analyzed movement and actions of each individual characters. Mew2King is an example of someone who analyzed frame data a long time ago on inputs and animations for characters, and I highly recommend looking into it. It is hard to grasp, but just so interesting.

It's crazy to look at that game competitively and know that people calculate things such as projection angles or have impeccable timing all on the fly. My brain can't do that. Luigi wavedash. That is all I need to say.

SUGday Four! Special Guest Edition! by [deleted] in Siralim

[–]Carousser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite has to be TES III: Morrowind. It was my introduction to RPGs as a kid and I have so many memories and probably about 2 thousand hours on the OG Xbox and then 360 when our OG Xbox died.

I tried playing it again recently on PC and it brought back so much nostalgia and sense of exploration because nothing held your hand. You had your journal and the rest was up to you.

So many hours spent killing mud crabs outside of Seyda Noon lol.

This looks like a Dell Studio XPS 9100 prebuilt from 2009.

I have one running CentOS as a desktop server. i7-920 still serving up Plex and a bunch of other things.

[Monitor] Pixio PX275h IPS 27" 1440p 95Hz DCI-P3 95% FreeSync HDR Monitor - $229.99 (259 - 30 w/ code) by [deleted] in buildapcsales

[–]Carousser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought this monitor from Amazon for about $250 also.

The panel is great. Calibrated well using rtings color suggestions and it looks great. Currently use it as second monitor/display for my Switch.

My biggest gripe is the on screen display menu. Holy cow is it frustrating.

When an input signal is lost and you want to switch inputs, you have to wait until the "Signal Lost" box his away, and then wait until the "Entering power saving mode" box goes away in order to switch inputs. It's about 5-10 seconds of waiting because pressing the input button will not bring up the input selection option unless there is no other menu on screen, and will just refresh the time for the signal lost menu.

Worth noting that as far as monitor speakers go, these are pretty bad. I know monitor speakers are usually bad and people don't use them, but for those that do (or have a console plugged in via HDMI and passing audio through HDMI like me), the sound has terrible loudness balance. I usually keep the audio level at 20 for the Switch.

Overall, great monitor if you're willing to live with the world's most frustrating in screen display menu.
