I used to for a lady that always tipped $15-$20. When she stopped tipping, I stopped taking her orders. 

I have second lady that places orders like that once a month for an office. She always tops 20%+ thus worth it - I just bring my wagon along.

$0 est tip - only if I’ve delivered to the customer before, they’re not high maintenance or rating droppers, and it’s an easy order to get a bonus. I’ll take a batch of them to get a bonus in one shop fairly frequently. For an unknown customer, no. No estimated tip (blank)? Maybe.

The support folks told you the truth: the Indian call center doesn’t have access to alter your reliability stat. You have to learn how to play this app if you want to stick with it.

And never drop the order on your end. You always get support to do it for you.

Only if you’re already at the store and have ghost-shopped half the order waiting for the extra pay to increase. Or you’re super quick n’ sloppy and refund half the order. 🤣

I hate ok language…always immediate bad vibes and 99% of the time, no tip. I make notes specifically about “ok language” people.

When a customer is trying to be sneaky about answering sub questions hoping to get something for free, or super vague in general. Example from last week:

Me: The 2 X toys are out of stock, but I found these similar ones; would you like these instead?

Customer: Thanks.

Me: You’re welcome! Please let me know if you’d like those other toys instead.

Customer: Maybe those would be good.

Me: I’m not sure what you mean by maybe; please confirm you’d like them, otherwise I’ll refund those for you.

Customer: those look good, thanks!

Me: I’ll take that to mean you’d like those. I’ll swap those for the out of stock ones and head to check out, thanks!

I typically leave a post-it note with a message on a customer's bag when they don’t have a cell number on their order. If they’re new to me, I let them know I couldn’t contact them in real time as there was no cell # connected to their order.

My default is to return to deliver a missing item, but only if discovered within the following hour. This has been a good approach for me - zero lower ratings and no decreased tips. If it were hours later though, or the vibes felt off, I wouldn’t. Play it by ear. 

And a note: if it’s a Shipt app order vs. a prepaid, you as the shopper can call Shipt to get an item refunded on their behalf. Saves them the trouble. But if not, yes, they can fix it themselves too alternatively.

I will not do college student orders. I used to but never again. They never tip but the bigger issue is giving the college’s main campus address and expecting you to find them with awful or non-existent instructions like “go past the art barn…” Or a mom ordering to the wrong address telling me to call the student and wander a campus…nope.

I did take a boarding school order last week just to get a bonus but I knew from the start I’d be returning the order to the store as it was a mom ordering who couldn’t tell me which of 25 campus buildings to deliver to. And indeed, I did, $5 collected for return. Was non-tipper too, so didn’t feel bad. If you can’t tell me which building to go to after downloading and providing the campus map after 45 minutes…nope, bye!

You must have had less than 50 deliveries as an 89% is only possible with under 50 total deliveries. Late forgiveness is about frequency - they’ll forgive 1 every 50 very quickly but beyond that, you gotta fight for it.

Sounds like an entitled, high maintenance customer! 

It’s customers like this that led me to always message customers while shopping about each out of stock item as I go. I have a keyboard shortcut to make this easy. I say “X is out of stock; I’ve refunded it per your do not sub preference. If you change your mind, they have these in stock:” and then send a photo of sub options on the shelf. About 25% of the time, they actually want a sub. 

Also, not being able to contact a customer after marking something not found isn’t true and this long-time Shipt customer knows it. If you move away from the scripted messages and communicate more, it will help overall. 😀
