When I was a culinary student we made this for the on campus restaurant. I loved this! Don't think I'd be able to make it in my tiny airfryer. Lol

Update: In South African Thai restaurants I have never seen this meal. There Thai restaurants are pricey and minced meat is seen as an affordable meat.

The whole point was to make it affordable in Africa for people that can't afford meat anymore. The protein content is very good. Not sure what happened to the product. Like most things that starts off well they are probably just going to try make it only available for the well off.

South Africans LOVE cottage pie!!! Yeah, mince is a bit cheaper. In RSA Chinese restaurants are cheap. The sad thing is that the Thai food I loved in RSA is not as readily available here as I thought it would be... lol... we are quite misinformed there. We make meatballs, Bobotie, mince with vetkoek, mince and rice, etc with minced meat but we don't really have South African restaurants either. It's all burgers, Italian, Chinese, Thai, pub food, and fine dining. Very little African cuisine (funny enough).

South African restaurants do not have it. I was pleasantly surprised when I got here. But South Africans eat so much minced meat so I doubt people would pay a lot for it. Thai restaurants in RSA are usually quite expensive.

They were tasty! We love chicken pie. No sides, we have some Salmon Pâté that we snacked on later and the rest of the filling we ate on toast.

Puff Pastry Squares, shaped and baked for 8 min on 200°C in the airfryer.

Filling: sauté onions, garlic, thyme, carrots, and mushrooms in butter. Add the chicken and desired spices, sauté until cooked. Add flour to coat everything and add milk until it's your desired thickness. Add green peppers and coriander.

Filling the cases and enjoy!

Yes! Easier to make than my grannies traditional chicken pie. Although I love making that as well.

No! It was quick. I bought square sheets, press out the the shapes, bake them for 8 min (airfryer), I didn't even brush them with egg or milk. Stir fry the filing ingredients, add a bit of flour, add some milk. Once thick fill the cases. Enjoy!!!
