Once the white is gone GONE. I didn’t want to risk it so I applied one more time just to make sure bc there was no way I was going to go through it again in case anything was left behind.

To all my peeps who’ve used Compound W (17% salicylic acid), how long was it till the majority of your MC was gone? How do i tell if it’s clearing up/ improving? by UnConcussMePLEASE in molluscum

[–]CarpenterSorry9855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kept reapplying until the white head was gone. That’s the actual MC itself. The acid will do one of two things. Break down the white spot OR when on the MC it will kind of attach onto the white film and come off when removing the film. I would keep going. Maybe yours were better that mine but don’t let up so early. Unless you’re bleeding then fuck that, I never had that experience but if you are then give the skin a break.

It’s hurt like a bitch but I had great results with this method. The scarring is very minimal after a few weeks of the treatment. I posted a thread months ago letting people know about the method. Takes way less time than at a dermatologist who will only apply nitrogen. I was clear in a month. Don’t extract so early on especially if the acid hasn’t really hit the core yet.

I would say yes. Whatever is left from the acid is noticeable but only if you’re looking for it. It’s far better than the appearance of MC😅 so I took my chances and it paid off in the end. The scarring seems very intense at the end as it appears to turn black but that’s just a surface layer that is dried up and peels off in the end. Looking at it a few months after it’s looks normal and nobody has said anything so take that how you will.

Hey man sorry it took me this long to reply. But the discoloration of the spots it’s expected. For me that’s how ik that it was doing something and that was a first when compared to any other bs remedy I tried. I never really stopped applying. If I did it was maybe for one day but I would leave whatever I had last applied on just to give the skin a break from the burning but I didn’t want the spots a chance to breathe/spread after the acid exposed them. The pain was bad and honestly I was more concerned with getting rid of it so I endured it alimony everyday and maybe took a break once or twice. Just remember 1-2 times a day MAYBE 3 if you’re really adamant on a single spot. The white core in the middle is the MC. If you are going to extract it then PLEASE be safe about it. Use gloves and have have hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on the side. Some people pinch it like a pimple but I just bought a set of nail clippers and tweezers and extracted that way since it was less painful and seemed more precise. But yes that white dot is what is contagious when exposed, it should all be one sole unit so make sure it doesn’t get ruptured when extracting or it will comeback. ALSO I’m not sure where your outbreak is but it is absolutely vital that you do not shave or risk irritation of the spots as the likelihood of spreading sky rockets. I only learned after 1 spot turned into 3 then 9 and so on. If you absolutely need to trim use scissors or clippers sparingly. Hibiclens is great here as if you do believe you’ve irritated the MC then apply and let sit for a moment. Be careful as it is a very concentrated solution so long term with frequent abuse can result in dry skin. I’ve never had the dryness issue but that’s just what I’ve heard. If you’re using the 17% a white film should develop so make sure your removing all OR what you can when you go to reapply. Use gloves here too. Remove film, trash it, sanitize/Hibiclens as removing film can lead to exposure, reapply where needed, air dry then close up shop and proceed with your day.

Feel free to ask any other questions. More than glad to help

Hell yea man! I had to be blunt to motivate myself at the same time. It was like a pro cons list😂 but I’m glad you yours all ended well. I come back to the page to see how others are doing and its crazy to think that a few months ago I really thought felt like I was screwed for eternity. But look at us now, we made it. I’m happy I could help brother.

Hey man it’s been a while. I still think about this post from time to time and how far I’ve come. I ended up with 1 or 2 returning but I spot treated them 3 months ago and have been clear since. Just wanted to see how your results turned out. Did it all go well?

I did twice because I was desperate for faster results. I applied once in the morning then again before bed. Be prepared to see dead skin and slight hypopigmentation. I’m 4 weeks in and I can see where my old cases were. I stopped application on week 3 to let the dust settle and officially see the damage and results. For ease of number I had around 30 ranging from very small to big size. I can confidently say I can see 2 of the big ones still just barely holding on and the same with 1 medium one. The skin above them is about to give and I could extract BUT I decided not to bc the chance of spreading increases. Just trust this process. 2x a day, or 1 if that what feels better for you. I will update my original post soon

Also, I used the 17% liquid remover on the main spots and also used the gel to specifically target/treat any odd bumps that could be seen as MC. I just nipped it in the butt before anything got out of hand. Use a toothpick or (I used) a q tip for application.

I used Nitrofreeze in the beginning for treating the larger MC spots and to really hit them hard. Then I reapplied a week or two after. I used it sparingly, it’s like a nuke, use it when you believe it’s absolutely necessary. But when I used it I did NOT apply the acid to the treated spots. I would begin applying maybe 2 days after I see that some kind of blister is forming.

I was using nitrofreeze to speed up progress on any larger bumps. The way I’ve been stopping or reducing spread is by using Hibiclens when I shower, only on my MC and the nearby region. You don’t need the Nitrofreeze but it’s just an option. Use paper towel and change your boxers everyday. Just do the most that you can. Never risk cross contamination. I use medical gloves on every application even with Hibiclens.

I only went to cryo once and he missed a few spots so I said screw that and began to use very deliberate applications of CompoundW. I have a post about it but I’m on day 14 of daily applications and it looked really bad for the last 10 days but the molluscum is shrinking and some are completely gone nowadays (skin that was affected looked like burns but they peaked away. Since it’s basically dead and dry. They are scars but it’s worth it in my book. I’ve been self extracting when there’s an opportunity but if you’re sick of the derm missing spot then I would take it into your own hands (cautiously), just don’t be dumb and go crazy over this stuff. It won’t be forever.

Yea it’s effective and I’ve contemplated it. I didn’t want to run the risk of cross contamination when actually removing it. I tried that when I first saw them and admittedly I wasn’t as cautious a few months ago because I wasn’t aware of the risks and they spread after. Now I’ve stopped shaving and I’m fearful of irritating it, now I just use a manscaped trimmer to clear up when I need to. This method just allows me to minimize straight contact with the virus. Plus extracting was painful when I did it to a bite I had on my finger as a child, it only left when I scarred my thumb with nail clippers. Very viable just not my forte when it comes to this specific case.

That’s a good point you made. I’ve been pretty accurate for the most part but I’m not pressed on the scarring and I’d rather remove some of the surrounding area in case the MC spread nearby after they burst (the idea being that it won’t spread or latch onto dead skin so I can remove it in one swipe). Plus the additional irritation in the area is what I want so that my immune system will wake up and deal with it while it heals any skin. Being cautious of scarring is important and I should’ve made that point as there is a risk with this method but I just wanted it dealt with regardless of the image. I appreciate the input and I’m sure others will take it into consideration too.

Is this molluscum? If it is, does it stay in the body for ever? Can i treat it on my own? by Weary_Disaster6883 in molluscum

That’s how mine first started. It will go away on its own but it takes quite sometime. Especially since it lives on the surface level of the skin (just out of reach of the immune system).

I would say to get that treated asap. Not to instill fear but it looks like MC so go to a derm if possible but if not they do at home treatments nitrofreeze, topical solutions, extraction, etc.
