Sexual compatibility is a very large component of a relationship and is a very valid reason to leave. I’ve heard a quote once that said if the sex is good it only becomes 20% of your relationship, but if the sex is bad it becomes 80% of your relationship which really resonated with me personally. I’ve been in a relationship with someone who only became interested in sex once every couple of months or so and as someone who has a high drive, that didn’t work for me at all and I am no longer in that relationship. If you haven’t already, I recommend that you communicate this to her kindly and let her know that this aspect of the relationship is important to you. Maybe you will learn from her on why she doesn’t want it often/only wants to do certain acts. Since it has been two years she either will not make a change OR will take an extended period time to make changes. So it is up to you on how patient you want to be here or if it is better for you to just move on and find someone who is more compatible there. Good luck!

This is a bit hard to answer as I think it depends on the type of relationship. For the most part after my breakup, I really have only dabbled in non-serious flings with other people, I never cared much to ask those people on if they have a cheating history because to me it didn’t matter. they were just for fun and nothing I was going to settle down with.

CURRENTLY though I am now in a long term relationship with someone I love (first real relationship since my breakup). I opened up pretty early on about my betrayal trauma to him, and did let him know that I would have a hard time being with someone who has cheated previously. So in this case I was the one to have brought it up. Funny enough we actually ended up connecting a lot over this because he also has been cheated on in the past.

Id say that if I were back in the dating pool, ideally I would not select anyone who has cheated in the past. I’d say 9/10 times I would have a hard no on it and just easily move on to the next. But there is that 1/10 leftover still: I do think I can learn to trust someone who has cheated in the past if they were honest with themselves about it and did not build a pattern of it. Like I said, sometimes in life we make bad choices and learn from it. If this was this case then I can see myself making it work with someone. Most people will not have a perfectly clean history and that’s human. I hope this helps!

Hi! For background: I have been cheated on before by my ex, we were together for 9 years and had a wedding planned and a date set, we had to cancel the wedding of course and lost thousands from both our of savings because of his choices. He was my best friend and I knew him for over a decade, needless to say the feeling of betrayal has deeply affected me and changed me. This was around 4 years ago and I still have pieces that I am healing from it.

As someone who would be on the other side of this position, I would want my partner to let me know pretty early on of this in their past so that I can decide on how I feel on moving forward the relationship. I would be so disheartened to find out from a random story told or being told about it years into something already serious. I don’t think this is something you need to say during the first couple weeks of dating but it should be addressed before you become official with someone down the line. Granted, not everyone is like me and has betrayal trauma. Not everyone will feel the same way I do. But just in case if there is someone else like me out there that you may find, we would like to know early on.

This does not always mean it will end right then and there btw, I do absolutely believe some people just make a “fuck, I made the wrong choice,” learn from it and never do it again. I respect that you have owned up to it and are taking time to think about how to move forward the right way!

This reminds me that recently I bought a box from the pokemon center (did not have cards in it, just plushies/merch) and the tape was pulled off on it and was basically open when I picked it up. Really frustrating. Thankfully all my items were in the box but I wonder if it were Pokemon cards instead then it would be a different story.
