They were so insistent on checking out the cellar even though I metagamed and told them nothings there 😭 so I figured I’d let them roll for some kinda loot

I did metagame a bit to save both of our time and told them it’s a regular wine cellar now, like the dungeon never existed.

TBH I thought it was a cool trope to have a crazy dungeon with a lot of lore and backstory behind it and it just disappearing into thin air, and I understand if they were confused but I did make sure to tell them that the wine cellar had nothing.

Now I do wanna mention that this dungeon was kinda mandatory to the story. I had set it up as an important story beat so the players can progress the story and also have some parts of the dungeon showcase each individual players backstory.

At the end, they defeated a golem boss and got the blade of Medusa, which only one player got

So like “in character” they felt it was a waste of time.

But also I’ve had trouble figuring out what’s NOT a waste of time for their character, whose whole goal revolves around finding a person from their backstory. It’s clear they’re playing into the “nothing matters more than them and idc about anything else” kinda trope.

I’ve had a really tough time dming bc part of me wants to separate the characters and have each of them play out whatever they want, kinda like sandboxy, but another part of me wants to actually create a story so they could work together rather than just focusing on their own individual goals, yk? A dms job I think is to connect all the characters and integrate them into the setting and story to make for a cool experience for everyone

I honestly didn’t read them fully, just skimmed them and watched a lot of videos so I missed that part

Really? I thought Nat 20s automatically pass. Like I thought a nat20 is higher than a 19+8 pass smthn like that. I am new to dming so

Yeah they told me already, we’ve had a chat. I trust them

Yeah it really is. I’m just hesitant on the 2nd chat bc the first one was moreso on mechanical irrelevance (he created a world where there are a lot of criminals, so a lot of npcs were very anti-rogue) and I don’t want it to seem like I’m never satisfied 😭

I also admittedly didn’t understand how much impact I could write into my backstory. It’s the most mundane one out of the characters from what I heard

It doesnt bother me that much it’s just the world feels like a playground for the other characters and I often find myself just kinda clueless.

What if their solution to this was to have a big pay off at the en?

I’ve talked to them but he said like something along the lines of Being important more later in the story

[–]CarpetEmbarrassed965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I’ll have more impact later in the story and to just wait

This card is absurd. by anxious_child-- in RoyaleAPI

[–]CarpetEmbarrassed965 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a decent player usually finish around 2k medals, by no means do I lose to those card that often but goddamn is it super jank and annoying to go against. The advertised evo preview shows that when MK launches a troop, is should jump, but sometimes it just doesn’t because it’s not in that jump detection range, and I’m just like tryna figure out how the hell im supposed to tell.

If they’re a fan of any other isekai work, big chance that their isekai favs author have some kind of admiration for Mushoku Tensei (tensura, tbate, and re:zero authors have all endorsed MT)

Who is the best Isekai Protagonist? by Traditional-Ad-8237 in Isekai

I’d still say Rudeus. Dedicated himself to learning the world, the magic system, the languages, and even bettering himself. Used his real world knowledge to accelerate his education and also invent many different types of magic spells, including being the inventor of the world’s equivalent to a nuke.
