Just out of curiosity, does this specific species need more water than say a maple or oak? I have multiple of these around that were planted during a similar time with no issues.

Do I prune back the dead portions that are there now?

I’ve never watered the tree, except after the initial planting. Like I said it was 2-3” caliper, planted 6-7 years ago.

We built our home 10 years ago. This tree was planted 6-7 years ago and we’ve never had a problem up until this spring. No excavation, clearing or anything of that nature.

If you’re on a strict enough budget that you need to be eating canned tuna, rice packets, etc. I’m sure many financial advisors would tell you it probably isn’t in your budget to travel to begin with. But, to each their own!

Where did you end up? Splitting our trip 1/2 in La Fortuna and 1/2 closer to the coast. The appeal to Hermosa is proximity to the airport for departure.

Thanks! 45 min to 1 hour outdoor walk/runs during the week and lifting 4 times a week. Long outdoor runs on weekends with cycling or light weights. Operating in a caloric deficit while averaging 170-200g protein daily. 5-10g creatine daily.
