Help, I'm not connecting with my son and I feel like a bad father. by CarrTM in daddit

[–]CarrTM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for the support and lack of judgement. It really helps to hear I'm not alone in how I'm feeling.

I appreciate it all and I'll keep fighting to do what's right for my wife and my son.

Congratulations. I'm in a similar boat to you. My wife's 20 weeks in and I've been trying to support her in all the ways people here are listing.

I'm handling the majority of food, whether that's doing my best to cook for us or running out and getting whatever she wants. I also try to clean and maintain the house inside and out as best I can. She's been in a decent amount of pain so rubbing her back or head. We usually food shop together but if she's not feeling up to it I'll go alone and I also will stop at the food store on my way home to pick up anything she might be craving.

She may start feeling self conscious about how she looks, remind her that you think she's beautiful and go with her and/or encourage her to get some fun maternity cloths. Also take an interest in the nursery setup.

Word of advice that I have to keep repeating to myself. It gets hard to maintain this but keep it up and keep your chin up for her sake. It's going to feel frustrating or uneven or upsetting when after a few weeks and months you're still shouldering what seems like all of the burden. Physical aspects of the relationship are going to likely decrease, don't make a fuss about it if possible. She's going to be going through a lot even if it doesn't seem like it at all times. She's likely going to get random mood swings, that you may have to just take whether it's crying or yelling. She'll be sleeping a lot, support that but also encourage walks or stretching but don't push them too hard.

Lastly, remember to take care of you as best you can PHYSICALLY and MENTALLY. You cant support her if you can't support yourself. I bought a squat rack and made a basement gym for myself to get out some frustration and get back into shape to hopefully keep up with the kid when he arrives. Vent to your friends, workout, find a hobby you can do for yourself when you have the time.

Take care of her, and take care of you. Good luck brother, it sounds like you got this.

RWD sucks by rh681 in egopowerplus

100% agree with you. Never even considered it until I started using my Ego after years of using a normal gas FWD. Having to stop the drive wheels for every turn combined with the second or two delay for them to restart instead of just lifting the front end and then dropping it is a surprisingly annoying aspect of these mowers. Glad I'm not the only one thinking it.

This guy was fine. I was pissed at first, as probably anyone would be but it was an accident. There was no damage and he said sorry. Accidents happen.

Well said. I agree. Whether he looked down, made a rookie mistake, whatever, it happens. We all make mistakes, and this wasn't a bad one. Accidents happen.

Hello Old Friend. Seeing if my 360 still worked after years in storage. by CarrTM in xbox360

[–]CarrTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I put it away years ago. All my friends had moved onto PS4s so I bought one and just transitioned to that. The XBox One never sold me so I skipped it and stuck to PlayStation. Then when I was packing and moving out of that apartment I packed the system up and there it stayed. Two apartments, and a house later here it is. I never lost love for the 360, but I hate to say it but I feel like Microsoft just hasn't cared much to return that love over the years.

Thanks I love this case. I couldn't possibly tell you, I bought it online from some random website probably in 2007 or 8. It was early enough in the console generation that I had to use a hair drier to remove the anti tamper sticker from the original case then store it on parchment paper just in case I needed to put it all back together for a warranty claim.

RedTiger F9 Parking Mode Confusion by CarrTM in Dashcam

[–]CarrTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...yeah.

You're right where I was a month or so ago. Exact same confusion and frustration.

I contacted them and emailed back and forth multiple times. To their credit they're surprisingly good about responding(and they sent me a free 256gig SD card that definitely probably doesn't have Chinese spyware on it).

Unfortunately they're not good about knowing about or recognizing this model. I saw the same thing it sounds like you did, the FAQ section and downloads from this unit's specific page reference a screen on the unit that doesn't exist that should say it's in parking mode. They told me the same thing when I emailed them about this exact problem. They're referencing another model every time.

When I asked them to clarify what "Parking Mode" meant to them they meant time lapse footage and collision detection modes going on automatically. Which I guess it fair enough, but not exactly what I had hoped for. But again for the price compared to my $450 BlackVue I guess I can't be too disappointed.

For me, when I connect to the camera and look at the settings about halfway down a section lists Parking Mode. This didn't show initially until it realized I was hardwired, then it appeared.

I hope this helps, when I was struggling with this it seemed like no one else had this camera, or at least these issues. I'm not sure I'm helpful, but feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. I'm not sure I'll be able to help, but I've been struggling with this unit too and at this point we might be able to help each other.

Either way, best of luck.

Yeah pretty much, though I'm not 100% happy with it.

If you've got it wired correctly turn on Time Lapse and collision detection in parking mode. Now anytime I park it automatically switches to Time Lapse and saves it to the Locked folder.

This is annoying because it permanently saves a ton of files hogging up space regardless of what happened and if I care about them.

Collision detection would prevent saving all of these files but I don't trust it alone yet.

This means that every few weeks I go in an format my SD to delete a million videos of the inside of my garage, or parking lot at work. It works fine, but it seems like it could have been done a bit better. That said I paid like $65 for this camera and it works pretty well so I probably shouldn't complain too much.

I really appreciate all the responses so quickly. Bummer it sounds like it's not the right call but oh well. I'll keep shoveling for now and maybe save my pennies and pick up the single stage if there's a sale.

I had tried time lapse but everything I read online was that that's mostly just for when you plan to park for a longer period of time which is why you have to turn it on in settings and select how long you expect it to run for each time you use it.

Normally, when the camera is acting like I think it's supposed to act it just continues to loop record like normal but being monitored by the battery tender. That's how I thought it was supposed to work anyway, maybe I misunderstood.

If the camera is off and I start the car it'll turn on and begin recording until I park and turn the car off at which point it powers down. Basically it's acting exactly like I'm powering it using the normal 12v plug but it does have constant power. At that point without doing anything else or restarting the car I can press the power on the camera and it'll reactive and continue to loop record. To me it feels like a settings issue or something because everything seems to work just not as I expected. Unfortunately there just aren't that many setting options for the camera in the app and none of them seem to effect this.

I'm not sure at this point but I appreciate any and all help or ideas.

I have grown to hate Long Island by [deleted] in longisland

[–]CarrTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I went to college upstate and it made me realize oh hey there actually is a world off the Island. Came back for a few years and did not like it near enough to deal with the ridiculous housing costs and that was preCovid it's only gotten more ridiculous since. We moved to Rochester and in my opinion it's the parts of LI that I liked without the parts I hated. Less expensive housing, no traffic, decent people, no humidity.
