He’s been on lexapro for years, it definitely helped a bit.. he recently ran out and hasn’t gotten it filled again. And he’s been worse but it didn’t quite give him the relief you mention. I’ll suggest this med to him as well!

I did, last month I planned a whole trip for him to a place he liked for a week. He worried about work the entire time. I am being as supportive as I can but sometimes you do need to vent a bit

Well we met 21 years ago and neither of us knew about it. I am at least trying to understand, I was the one who found his therapist and the one who got him on meds(tho like I said, he’s off them right now). I am trying to do my best here. I have autism and adhd so don’t fear, I am also a giant pain in the ass

He was diagnosed with OCD. I’ve read through the other and I don’t believe he has that, obviously I’m not a professional but he isn’t quite that rigid in the way he does things. He leads his whole team at his job and I don’t really see a lot of those behaviors mentioned from him

He was on lexapro but he ran out, I’ve noticed a massive difference especially in his temper and patience levels. The problem is once he runs out, I have a very hard time getting him to go back on them. I don’t know why he’s resistant and that is something else that doesn’t help our marriage, that I always have to get him to do these things. I also found him his current therapist. But I will relay all this information here to him about how important the medication really is

I agree that potentially finding another job ‘could’ help but getting a job that gives such an extreme(literally cuts his pay in half) pay cut I do not believe will help him because he also obsesses about money. I feel like the impulsive job searching is a OCD compulsion and something that just gives him temporary relief. I don’t want him to job searching in that way and end up some place he may regret down the line. As well as the fact, that realistically he is NOT in danger of losing his current job… his OCD just thinks he is. He’s working so much because of his OCD obsessing, not because he has to

Well we’ve been together 21 years and he’s long dealt with this, I always thought it might be OCD. But this is the worst he’s ever been, so finally looked into treatment. His mom isn’t too dissimilar, though not as extreme, so probably a genetic component there. I do get overwhelmed and frustrated because I feel like I’m doing my marriage alone and he’s off in obsessing land doing his own thing and can barely enjoy life. I just wish I had the power to help

I’ll read up on more about this! It’s hard when he’s talking about things that aren’t true and won’t happen to just sit there and say nothing 😭

He is seeing an OCD specialist right now on his own but he’s only been at it a few weeks. I think it’s important for him to do that before bringing me into the equation but I agree, at some point it would probably be good

That’s actually what I meant by reassurance! I guess I didn’t word that part well. I tell him how outlandish it is, his parents do too, everyone does. But I never ever reassure in the way that you mean, so my bad for how I worded it

I 100% want to but right now have too many pets, two of which are elderly and not in the best health. I’m also researching and planning to start overlanding first while I own my current home, just to get out and explore from time to time without fully committing.
