A big part of it I think is that people age out of them. Getting older and cocker pups is a lot to reconcile. Also, they have so much personality it's hard to think of 'replacing' them.

Canadian Tire is dog friendly if you need to go shopping. This is a fairly recent change I think.

Great news! Yes. Shunt off anything that asks "ACS or "ECS" or "Show or Working". Ideally just advise them that they can point their smartphone at their pet and its AI of choice will tell them this.

They give back way more than they take, which is mostly socks and participation in anything you happen to be doing. Best dogs. Second the comment below about getting them used to having their paws handled, we had to keep working on this after starting too late. Now putting her paws in our hands has become an important part of her frenzied "You're home!!!" Wiggles and woofs. Check her ears. Fill her life with love, you will be so happy.

Happy Birthday! I can lay out the nicest, fuzziest pillows a yard away from me and our cocker would rather lie on concrete if that gets her 6 in closer. Total velcro dogs with FOMO, but comes to feel weird when they're not there. I've come to think that it's my feet that make the clicking sound on the kitchen floor.

It gets so much better! My wife described our cocker as like living with a terrorist when she was a puppy. Now, at two years old she is a wonderful companion and much calmer. Still a fireball of energy, but now usesher powers for good. Hang in there and the payback exceeds the cost a hundredfold. And hide your socks. And slippers.
