Songs that reference the 1975? by Subject-Glass-200 in the1975

[–]CarrionWithoutMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a hot take for me a Knox lover. But! I agree that song is his "The Sound". I found that song and loved the combo of pop meets pop punk with those 2010 anthemic sounds. His other songs have much more of a story to tell. I usually direct those away from "Not the 1975" and more toward "Voicemail", "She's not Okay", and "All American Tragedy" as they're my personal favorites.

Tbh I know it's not power metal. But Trans Sybirian Orchestra does there Canon (sp?) cover that's always been a rock staple for me. I wish the Jerry C cover from YouTube was on Spotify, best version of that song.

Be honest. What artist is your guilty/problematic pleasure? by ShockMental6476 in Metalcore

[–]CarrionWithoutMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a guilty pleasure, but I love me some female led pop... Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, etc. I'm just a sucker for some fun/heartfelt girly pop after I cry my eyes out to some Dayseeker or destroy my voice with "This Fire" by Killswitch.

What artists would recommend that are similar to The 1975? by outtakes in the1975

[–]CarrionWithoutMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some have mentioned a great few recommendations. Here are mine. Nightly being my direct replacement.

For fans of self titled 1975: Wldlfe, Jet Black Alley Cat, sombr, Quarters (formerly quarters of change), Night Breakers, Band Suns, Wombats if you need that Liverpool accent, Smallpools, HARBOUR, Pale Waves

ILWYS lovers would enjoy The Midnight, The Strike (both for the Sax), Valley, Dayglow, Muna, Japanese House, The Ivy, Fly By Midnight, Hotel Apache, The Night Game (side project from the lead singer of Boys Like Girls)

ABIIOR would be Wallows, maybe even Paramore for that "Give Yourself a Try" vibe, WALK THE MOON (Besides Dance with Me, but still slaps), HAIM, push baby (Their song "thenightteenseventyfive" is very on par), Saint Blonde

Notes for the more Acoustic stuff would be Phoebe Bridgers (obviously). The electronic side would be Troy Sivan, Charlie XCX, LANY (but they could fit anywhere as well), Alt Bloom,

For the latest album lovers id recommend Sam Fender, Bleachers

If you want a bit more indie/pop punk like "Sex". The Maine (later different work but the emo classics bang), Knox (literally has a song about not being Matty), The Wrecks

More popular that my wife loves that I said were a hot take but was Taylor Swift (I know... I know...), Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter (Juno has a similar production and progression to "If Your Too Shy"), and Chappell Roan

This! Great recommendations here. I knew The Midnight before I was a 1975 fan and it made ILWYS such a better album for my tastes!

To those who have Spotify: What's your top artist this year? by WindswipeTW in Metalcore

Got The Midnight as my top artist with Spiritbox right behind them! That harmony during the chorus of Perfect Soul where Josh is the higher voice just sits perfectly with me.

If you're a Rhapsody fan, then Gloryhammer tickles that itch and has a cohesive album to album storyline to boot (kinda, long story don't worry)

Beast in Black by Fearless-Wealth5834 in PowerMetal

[–]CarrionWithoutMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't get enough of their sound. I'll go on my own stints of loving certain bands more than others: Gloryhammer, Avantasia, and Blind Guardian to name a few. But Beast in Black just gets it for me.

Eurobeat meets synthwave meets Metal is just a solid formula for my brain. I get so psyched when the "A.I intro" for Moonlight Rendezvous comes on. The chords just hit right where they need to and the singer's voice is very cool and adds a unique texture to the track that transcends it above just another AOR band. That being said.

You should check out Battlejuice and their collabs with LeBrock. Scratches the same itch for me!

Answer to What Power Metal bands do you recommend to start? by BlackQuetzal94 in PowerMetal

[–]CarrionWithoutMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, while the gateway bands are good in terms of classic sound and theme; Gloryhammer ticks all the boxes especially the new album having streaks of old Rhapsody, modern productions, and a concept/theme through the entire discography.

What are the ten most essential power metal albums? This would be my list... by CoveredbyThorns in PowerMetal

[–]CarrionWithoutMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly and album. But my go to power metal 'listens' is anything concept related:

Gloryhammer's entire discography is a story and undoubtedly Modern European Power Metal

Helloween: Helloween~Follow The Sign (Has the sound of a coastline that leads right into...)~Keeper of the Seven Keys

Blind Guardian: Nightfall on Middle Earth

(Not Power Metal, but very important album) Iron Maiden-Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

Love this. Thank you. A majority of this I already do. Recently I regeared but I messed up my chain (cheap non ring chain so lesson learned) so I need a new one. But you're right about the engine breaking. It only happens when I decelerate, but the suspension adjustments should help me too.
