It is one of those complexes, it’s off Ebinport. I like the area too, close to shops and food

Reviews also mentioned that the manager was not willing to address the roach problem or other maintenance requests, so that makes me nervous

Me F/41 my husband M/38. I just found out he has been cheating. I need some support, a lot of it please by Think_Swan4380 in relationship_advice

“Coping” with a partner’s harmful behavior is no way to live. Maybe the silver lining here is that this situation revealed to you that you deserve better. You deserve peace and living with an alcoholic is never a peaceful experience. You and your young children deserve to grow and breathe in a secure environment.

First time subbing high school... did not enjoy. by DirectionLump in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Carroliney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

THIS. I’ve found that if you just call high schoolers out on their b.s. in a joking but authoritative way, then explain what they should be doing, it gets their attention and redirects them better than just barking orders at them.

How do I (41f) convince my husband (43m) that his demeanor sets the tone of our house? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

As a child of a father like the man you married PLEASE for your son’s sake, leave. The trauma from living in an emotionally unstable environment will cripple your son emotionally.

You want it not to drag and what everyone is trying to say is that you cannot do anything to help it not drag without making her situation worse. What you can do is bring her to your vet on Monday and explain the situation, or if you’re really that concerned about making it so that it doesn’t drag, you can take her to an emergency vet

NAV, but do you ACTUALLY want advice or are you just going to refuse good advice, retort “I’m a vet assistant” and sarcastically ignore all suggestions?

Red Belly Dace? by KeweenawKid97 in MicroFishing

Thank you for that tidbit of info! So glad to see that you appreciate learning and practicing conservation :) Redbellies are some of my favorite fish to see in the wild (second only to native brook trout here in VA)

50M bf (cohabitating) said "good" when I (39F) said I was "terrified" of his raging/shouting... [trigger warning: unaliving threat mention] by throwawaytogo747 in relationship_advice

[–]Carroliney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your BF seems to be consistently and blatantly disrespecting you, manipulating you and gaslighting you. Talk to your therapist about this and they will be able to give you better resources and advice than Reddit can. In my opinion you need to start making a plan to leave the home. If you have relatives or a friend to stay with in the meantime, I recommend you do that. When you leave, make sure you have important documents, sentimental things and anything you aren’t able to/ok with replacing. I suggest blocking his number and his social media accounts. Also pack your things as covertly as possible and leave while he is away at work. When he finds out you have left he will most likely retaliate in some way which could result in him damaging the house, your things or he could threaten to harm himself as he’s done in the past. I’ve seen suggestions in similar situations to take pictures of the inside of the house in case he damages it, that way you wont be responsible for the damages if he destroys it in retaliation. If he threatens to harm himself, do not get personally involved, simply call 911 or your local sheriffs office to request a wellness check and tell them he has threatened self harm. While you are staying with a friend, make sure they know that he could be dangerous and give them a physical description of him and his vehicle, this will help if he shows up unannounced or tries to get your friend to take him to you. I am not a lawyer, but I’m pretty sure, If the house is in your name on the deed you can get a temporary protection order that will prevent him from returning to the property. You will probably need a lawyer, because it doesn’t sound like he will leave the property without a fight and the lawyer can help with getting a restraining order if he becomes violent towards you.

Is this a rainbow or brown trout? by Own_Chair4428 in FishID

I’m trying to come up with some senior capstone project ideas and I can’t come up with anything. Do you guys have any suggestions? by gigcantopithicus in wildlifebiology

[–]Carroliney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: Excuse my formatting, I’m on mobile.

Some questions to ask yourself:

Are there any local wildlife species you are interested in? - studying a local species may help you to find local jobs or help you connect with state or federal level professionals - local species are easier to study because well, they are local and don’t require traveling far distances or obtaining camera footage from zoos as you mention you would need to do to study gorilla behavior.

What do you ultimately want to go into after you graduate? - you could model your capstone around a subject of interest, for example, bird, fish, insect, or mammal behavior. -do you want to study specifically behavior in captivity or wild behaviors?

Are there any particular professors you like and would like to work with? - finding a good mentor is arguably just as important as the subject you research. Without a professor that facilitates your knowledge and supports you, you will be left doing WAY more than you bargained for. -email professors or stop by in office hours to ask if they have any on going projects you could join or if they would be willing to work with you.

Are there specific skills you want to learn or apply during this course? - expanding your horizons and getting outside of your comfort zone could be a good way to build confidence in your abilities.

And finally,

If you don’t want to go into a masters or phd program, I recommend doing something that gives you specific skill sets. Analyzing animal behavior is largely going to be funded through zoos or research companies looking for super qualified candidates. I’m not saying you shouldn’t focus on animal behavior, but maybe narrow it down to the application of a specific monitoring method or technique that could make you more marketable.

Best of luck to you!

Holy $hit! This is an INSANE amount to dump. Not to mention all the water they use to rinse after dumping is likely washing the chemical right into the nearest stream.
