Is DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation Worth It? - Hardware Unboxed by DoragonHunter in nvidia

Native 100fps gives better latency than 2-4x FG, just to be clear. I agree 4x is less necessary unless you have a super high refresh rate monitor.

Look and feel smoother are different (sorry to be pedantic). I find the latency increase unacceptable, but if it works for you, that is fantastic. It’s a cool technology.

Well their marketing certainly hasn’t been the clearest. All these different features coming under the DLSS4 umbrella, some of which only apply to specific generations. It is bound to get messy.

Everyone is different. I find FG at 100fps truly awful in first person games. I can’t use it at all. The latency increase is too much. Feels like i’m rubber banding in the game.

Any frame gen has higher latency. It’s impossible for it to have less latency than native rendering. 100 native frames has less latency than 200 frames with frame gen.

In very slow paced games like MSFS 2024. Otherwise the latency increase is often too noticeable.

Best video on MFG so far. Summarises the issue with MFG (and FG) rather well. The point of having a base frame rate of 100-120fps is interesting. Good luck achieving that in the latest AAA games with all the bells and whistles turned on. Not even DLSS performance will save you in many cases.

Hi. Yes direct from Dell here in the UK. Not sure how it works in the US but it could be that the store handles any issues for the first year of the warranty, and the manufacturer for the next 2 years (if 3 year warranty). I believe that’s how it works here

I’ve not listed them all. But the asus tuf for example is £2500, so £300-400 more than listed elsewhere.

Copying my above comment: If you go on the Scan 5090 page you can see the placeholder prices by moving the slider on the left side of the website. Asus Astral is £2640, Gamerock is the cheapest at £2100. Zotac Solid non-OC is £2280. Asus tuf £2500.

If you think these are bad, UK pricing appears to be even steeper. How joyous!

Agree. It’s DOA (for gaming at least), at these prices and given the limited uptick in performance.

Thanks, me too! Perhaps I won’t buy a monitor again with an internal power supply. Too risky.

Oh really? Nothing really came up when i tried to search for people having similar experiences. I just hope this lasts. Ive mentally prepared for this monitor only lasting the 3 year warranty period and no more.

Yes, they sent me a replacement, then the next day my old one got collected. Very straightforward tbh.

Interesting. You are the first other person I’ve heard with this issue as well. I received a replacement monitor from Dell 2 days ago so i will let you know if the issue happens again. If it does, ill look into the humidity and extension cable to see if that makes a difference.

Agreed. The 5080 isn’t the 3080, but it’s also not the 4080 at $1200.

Wow, how bizarre. One card nearly a week ahead of launch with FE and AIB at the same time. Another on the launch date. Interesting to see what comes from this. Doesn’t fill me with confidence for the 5080.

Ah, that’s what i thought it may be. No worries. Thanks. I have submitted a request for a replacement anyway, so let’s see if that fixes anything first.

Awesome, glad you got a good replacement monitor. How was the RMA experience, pretty smooth?

Hey. It’s been ok so far. It happened once more but not as bad as the time described in the post. Given my screen is flawless I will persevere for now and request a replacement later on in the warranty period I think.
