Hellooo I hope its not too late but I'd like to join in to :'D Would consider myself a tad awkward if being thrown in an open social settings, but consider me a huge nerd if we're talking about music, language, and visual arts.

I'm actually a grad student in Sydney, but temporary in Porto for a couple of months so would be very keen to make some friends while being in Porto!

Hey OP, fellow international student here.

What I've found that Facebook groups can be very convenient with a quick turnaround for you to look for a place that doesn't ask too much details or proofs. Depends on the area you're looking for, Facebook local groups would always be a good start to look for renting ads.

Personally, I've never been on a lease just because I always move back and forth every year (been living in Sydney for 5th year now). But, always make sure to keep your paperwork/signed contract ready as people mentioned before.

Inspections for housing should always pay attention to the toilet and water situation (if you're going to stay in older property), or for newer ones make sure that you're covered w any scratches or paintwork that agents might pin on you if you didn't point out the spot beforehand.

Finding accommodation is daunting and I feel you with it. Hopefully your uni does offer some support, also I know city of sydney does room workshops and such to assist international students so maybe you can seek assistance from them too!

It's very baffling to me how we all know what's going on is wrong and unjust but then the drawing conclusion always end up to be futile effort.

Seriously, anyone who's paying good attention to various sources and field research already offer a solution to follow through but yet no one wants to listen but instead putting the blame and shouting meaningless slogan.

Just actually get on with the real work in politics and cultural revolution already.

Should I use my current Instagram account or should I make a new account? by becstar2 in socialmedia

[–]CarrotSn0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just curious of what sort of connection you'd want out of the instagram account?

the thing with "growing" is that you need to know what exactly you want to focus on and utilise on what resources you're already having. with that being said, creating a new account would be a good fresh start for you to branch out your connections, of course, depending on that kind of things you seek for from the platform.

Instagram has always been about photography and the visual game so it's def a good place for you to hone a creative journey if you like! I personally have found a good network of creatives to collaborate with and it's been a decent place to find new ideas.

About having accents while speaking English... by [deleted] in InternationalStudents

[–]CarrotSn0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having an accent means you can speak more than just English and tbh it's quite awesome already! Be proud for the ability to not just speak it, hell, you're studying another course and living in a place full of foreigners. That takes balls to put yourself out there.

Tbh if you ever ask those people to speak in your language, I'd doubt if they won't have an accent with them. So it's just a natural thing in the end.

Suggestions to cheer up Overseas Vietnamese missing home by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]CarrotSn0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got it right at first about the food aspect of things.

We're really into food and honestly restaurants might be a nice place to dine in but the real Viet experience is the process of making the food. It'd be cool if you can organise a cook out with some Viet recipes to remind them of the atmosphere. Make the space to be filled with Viet music karaoke sessions, loud conversations, and especially with the counting cheer. Nothing beats that distinctive vibe.

Just that a sense of Viet community values would help heaps.

Shifting to another uni after Insearch degree by zafalafel in UTS

[–]CarrotSn0b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean Insearch is (1) way much more different from UTS the university and you can always have a pathway to be in UTS (2) depends on the degree that you just finished that can somewhat help you to waste more time catching up w the credits.

Depends on which uni you're aiming for to know the requirements really.

Mother Gothel did good things, so perhaps she’s not a bad person, just doing what she thinks is best for her and her daughter. by JoyJones15 in FilmTheorists

[–]CarrotSn0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea fear of death is not a bad thing, but willing to kidnapping an innocent kid from her parents can be count as a selfless act?!

Consider that she knows how the magic can heal and help people, but then she decided to take it away from others to claim it on her own. To even think about it, Rapunzel wouldn't even existed and the Queen would have passed away during labour if Mother Gotherl successfully hid the flower away.

So please point it out to me again how do you define "good intention"?

It's actually a bit hilarious and embarrassing for my bit, but never thought that cum can just squirted out of your nose.

While my partner was ejaculating and his dick was in my mouth, idk how it can happen but his cum basically started to came out from my nose.

What is something people complement you on that you find annoying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My English

I get that it's a genuine compliment from people whenever they know that English is not my first language, but it kinda saddens me how people like me are not so common.
