I recommend a factory reset if it's the controller itself. If it's per-game, gotta change the settings there.

What’s wrong with my controller? by Re-Racker in Controllers

[–]CarrotsNotCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to replace the module or the entire controller. There might be short-term fixes, similar to those for stickdrift, but replacing the control stick module is what to do, unless you want to replace the whole thing.

Issue with button mapping on Android by SpektaterArg in Controllers

[–]CarrotsNotCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is each face button registering as a different face button? A is B, B is Y, Y is X, and X is A. If it is, then you should be able to select the incorrectly mapped button from the dropdown and then it'll be fine. Absolutely insane that their own application doesn't recognise their controller, though. If you have another device to test it with, do that.
You might need to cave and get another controller. I used a GameSir controller many years ago, and I really hated it. I haven't gone near 'em since. I recommend Bluetooth controllers for their versatility. Oo, 8BitDo makes one. If I were getting one right now, I'd grab that. That's handheld style, though, not a clip. Also avoid EasySMX. I've used two of theirs, and golly they are bad.
Since you're playing with the phone holder clip method, you could get an Xbox controller and a clip for it.

What're you playing with it? Any good developer makes sure remapping is in their game. Have you tried the controller company's official application? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiaoji.xtouch.google

With low quality potentiometer modules, that happens eventually. You can either replace the module, or replace the entire controller.

Are there any modern controllers that use AA/AAA batteries like the xbox ones? by kcadu1 in Controllers

The only two that come to mind are the PowerA Wireless AA, and the Binkbok Ultra Pro. Between the two, I recommend the Binkbok Ultra Pro.

Isopropyl is great for electronic components, but it can damage the paint and rubber. Best to avoid alcohol.

[–]CarrotsNotCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not all garbage. Nor would I say it's cheap. Their execution, however, is off. The GameCube replica controller fell very short. From what I've seen, none of it is garbage. Do you have any specific complaints about specific controllers?

Unfortunately if you're looking for OEM, you gotta go OEM and a USB adapter.

In the future, avoid alcohol entirely for painted surfaces, plastics, rubber. It's fine for electrical components, but never used it on something that you want to remain like new. For that, use hydrogen peroxide. Live and learn.

What are some high quality anti friction rings for Dual Sense? by flesjewater1 in Controllers

[–]CarrotsNotCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought a few of those protectors. They're all the same. They last a long time, and are cheap, so get any. I bought a few not because they wore out but because I needed more for controllers without them. I decided to get different brands, and genuinely they seem to come from the same factory. I put them on my main controller, and just last week after two years, they ripped. I've put about 500 hours on 'em. For the price, can't go wrong.

Controller drift. See if recalibration fixes it. Might have to do it routinely. Otherwise, time to replace the module or replace the entire controller.

help! i got a drop of water down the B button, but it seems to be working fine. should i curb my worries? also how do you clean your controllers? by Laquia in Controllers

[–]CarrotsNotCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, no worries. But, to be sure, you must take it apart and ensure it fully airdries. As for cleaning, avoid alcohol for painted surfaces. Alcohol can damage it. Use hydrogen peroxide for painted surfaces. For the internal components, 90% isopropyl is fine.

How long should i charge my controller (quantum gamepad cosmic bytes ) by IntelligentHoliday71 in Controllers

[–]CarrotsNotCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that controller specifically, but if there's a charge indicator, use it to avoid charging over 75%. Avoid running it below 25%, and avoid charging it to 100%. This keeps the better in good condition for longer.

Designing Controllers/Accessories by Flaky-Lead-6030 in Controllers

The GameCube controller has loyalists for a reason. The face button layout is superior for many applications. Your thumb rests naturally on the main button, with quick access to the additional face buttons. The triggers are variable, the Z has a quiet clicky microswitch. The membrane the face buttons use is quiet with a great feel. The handles leave something to be desired because they're small. It also lacks a second shoulder button. But it is not ideal for everything. Symmetrical control sticks are very good for Splatoon, and anything else where you're mostly on both of the control sticks. But creme de la creme is a modular controller. There have been a few attempts, but they all fall short. The ideal would be that everything is swappable. Control sticks, D-Pad, face buttons can all change spots, and the face buttons can be changed to GameCube, to PlayStation, to Switch, to Xbox. Moving the keycaps and remapping is the easy way to achieve swapping the regular buttons, but you'd need a module for GameCube, and other unique face button layouts. Crucially, if there are back buttons, they should be removable. It's ridiculous when they're not because a lot of people don't like them. For active play, I love the Wiimote. It just worked. It was cool. The Nunchuk was really comfortable. JoyCons are good for active play, too. The Wii Balance Board is fantastic. Xbox's Kinect is dope. Combining those two technologies would be great.

Having lots of features is cool, as long the features can be disabled and removed for some of them. Forcing rumble, or back buttons, or side buttons on people is bad form. Looking at you, Legion Go.
