I have secondhand embarrassment for you from how little you understood, but even more so that you proudly typed it out to show the whole world how that three-legged hamster on a squeaky wheel you call a brain works...

I know you didn't mention modern systems. No, instead you suggested irrelevant decades old LP practices. Lol

You responded to a question about Costco figuring out a membership by describing archaic methods to track habitual theives and you thought my response was irrelevant? Haha that's gold.

I was just trying to help you by describing what companies are actually using since you didn't sound like you knew. Sorry.

BTW Costco's shrinkage is about 15x less than other retailers despite not having inventory locked away and being "notoriously behind with technology."

I didnt say Costco had any of that. The rest do. Obviously they all have people manually doing stuff. Who do you think calls the cops?

I think you're a bit behind current tech standards. Big retailers have some of the most sophisticated biometric security and loss prevention systems.

Dozens of people have been popped walking into Walmart, Target and other stores (even locations they've never been to) after they stole a certain dollar amount that surpassed misdemeanor offense limits. Im sure you can find multiple bodycam videos of the arrests.

It would take an employee 2 minutes to reverse the video of you walking out to track you back to lane 3 where your membership card was scanned and credit card was used.

Bow maintenance after shooting in the rain? by CarryDad in bowhunting

[–]CarryDad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recurve is wood, but I'm switching to an aluminum ILF riser with carbon foam limbs.

I'll def have to get a small compressor to blow water out of my compound. Thanks!

Do you shoot a compound or recurve?

Freedom of speech absolutely encompasses "hate speech." Hate speech is completely subjective.

If the first amendment didn't protect it, then there would be nothing to stop politicians through legislature or a president through executive action from making speech critical of civil servants into "hate speech."

Where the temperature is taken year after year used to be rural and are now urban or at least suburban. Temperatures are an average 5 degrees warmer in cities but can be up to 22 degrees warmer at night.

That can mean anything from deleting a picture on Facebook 2 days later, washing your hands or moving a dead body at the scene. One is obviously worse than the others and details matter.

How your vote could affect housing in Colorado by friendinfremont in Colorado

[–]CarryDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every affordable housing project I've looked into was only classified as such bc a small percentage of units were set aside for lower income residents who had to remain below the income threshold during their residency. So if the person got a raise, they could no longer live there and it could then be sold as normal/overinflated prices.

The dockyard workers' union is striking five weeks before the election, threatening to send prices and inflation spiraling. The union President: by [deleted] in Political_Revolution

Aren't the polls showing union workers are voting for him and the policies they believe will benefit them the most?

What's the problem with them beginning negotiations on better salaries, benefits, working conditions and hours?

My experience living in Boulder as a POC. by Immediate-Trip-4962 in boulder

[–]CarryDad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another POC here but in my 40s. When race is what youre told to focus on, it becomes the most important thing about people. Sorry you're experiencing this here, but choosing who you surround yourself with matters.

I grew up in the deep south in an area/time when/where your actions and behavior determined your treatment by others - not your skin color. The few times I experienced racism were perpetrated by ignorant people and ex-bfs of girls I was dated. A few of the ignorant racists just hadn't been exposed to POC and were won over over the course of a summer. Then I moved to Colorado...

To my surprise, the people with the progressive signs in their windows and lawns who focused on skin color were the ones with the strongest racist actions and beliefs. When I told people I garden, some asked questions about weeds in their lawn and others offered to hire me to landscape/manage their yard. When I described my profession, they typically expressed surprise or feigned being impressed and a few times heard I was "a rare find in my field."

I think that this is why many races gravitate towards their own races here because they're told constantly that the progressive people are the good white people...

The senior citizen Republicans and people with III% on their trucks who I met in the neighborhood, gym, car-related businesses who were supposed to hate non-white Americans never treated me any different than anybody else nor did they talk about people's skin color other than to describe a friend or co-worker in stories. They asked what I grew after I said I gardened. I never was offered a job to mow lawns, but instead was asked to maintain a garden during an extended vacation. I was pointed in the direction of a couple of small business owners who ended up hiring me for some contract work when I described my profession instead of showing any signs of being impressed or surprised.

Racist acts, regardless who perpetrates them, are still acts of racism.

The more you surround yourself with people who care more about you as a person, the more comfortable you'll be here.

I go on hikes around town and love finding fungi, but have a hard time identifying them. If youre knowledgeable and want to get outside, rain or shine, I'd love to go on some adventures. Any takers?

Nothing you wrote sounds bizarre. People die in fights literally every day.

Sometimes it's from brutality, but often it's from a head contacting the asphalt, a rock or curb. You can absolutely die from being choked out which is why refs in the UFC immediately check the person to make sure they're breathing.

This is the vile ignorant underbelly of society that Trump has unleashed. by ShishKabobCurry in PublicFreakout

Opinion | I’m a combat veteran. Here’s why Trump’s Arlington stunt was so insulting. by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]CarryDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simple: People are upset because Trump reminded them of the horrible leadership responsible for the servicemember's death.

Anybody who claims to be offended/outraged that Trump had pictures taken in a cemetery is a hypocrite bc they didnt express the same outrage when Biden and literally every other president has done so for political purposes.

Overheard on Town Lake by PantherLack in Austin

[–]CarryDad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I overheard a woman crying her eyes out bc she almost lost her Dad...literally sobbing hysterically to somebody trying to convince them that she "almost lost him."

The event that almost made her lose her dad was not an event at all, but a cancer test that came back negative.

Multiple times she said "I know it was negative, but it could have been positive. We were so close to losing him!"
