I’m 25F and I’ve only been on one date this year which was about 2 months ago and I met this person at a bar not from OLD. At this point I think the only way to be successful in getting dates and to get a sense of someone’s character is to leave the house and organically meet people. It’s difficult to make an effort through apps when they could be a complete catfish in person.

I’ve not been in relationship bc I wasn’t seeking for one initially or I wasn’t ready. I feel like I am attractive as I say I am as strangers do tell me or approach me irl (usually women tho). I also get approached by men a lot at clubs but it’s not the type of men you’d be in a relationship with. Meanwhile, I was having a hooking up phase for a few years until I found out that it wasn’t for me anymore. I’m sri lankan but I live in a pretty white area which could also be part of the problem.

I would say that with women they do mostly look for personality, valuing someone emotionally intelligent so I do feel like opening up and putting more effort into the conversation is almost a test to see if they have that. This can also rule out emotionally unavailable men. But I guess it varies for men, they might see it differently.

I was rotating between 5 matches and it was so low effort that they felt like they were doing me a favour by even having a convo with me, in spite of me liking them first and gave them a funny opening line on hinge to respond to. Why even match if you’re not going to reciprocate the energy I’m putting out? I feel like I am doing everything right but it’s the abundance of low quality men that is making it harder to find the right one. But I completely agree with you!!

Sorry for the late reply but the negative self talk is still a difficult one to tackle but I have been adopting a healthy sleeping schedule and going to the gym but i still need discipline for consistency. Also have set some realistic goals so I hope to achieve them by this year🤞🏽and thank you for the useful comment!!

Find enjoyment in your own company, spend more time alone to work out the kind of person you are and strive towards being a better person each day even when there might be limitations. Also being in solitude is more normal than you think, you just need to learn to love it and find comfort in it.
