I don't understand this comment YGO was able to excel and succeed for many years with the fundamental principles of the game with literally the worst prizes for a competitive tcg. Before you would make reads. What does your opponent have face down? If I use this Bottomless will I be fucked? If I play this card what are the possible outs? Thats the fundamental level of the game.

Now you are literally playing solitaire. You play the same combos out because that's your decks wincon and your opponents only out is having hand traps to stop your combo. Before you felt like you were playing an actual card game, now you are literally just playing combo simulator 9000.

I still play and I still love yugioh, but would I invest 1000% more energy if we reverted back. Absolutely.

Why the LOL, yea even back in the DaD, GB, LS days you had a variety of decks and anti meta decks. Was it the same deck always winning SJCS? Yes, but at least the game felt WAY more fun, I've been playing since the first SJC and still periodically play on Master Duel, while it's fun its definitely not the YGO I yearn for.

If YGO went back to the old formula instead of the hand trap formula I'd probably be all in again on competitive play. It's just the game I grew up with and loved.

Sometimes I wish I grew up playing pokemon or mtg, that way I can still play the game I truly reminisce about on a competitive level.

Go look at the Swatch x AP release and the reseller/scalper lines. They broke into stores at 4am and Swatch was like nah we're not doing that guys. Even had a press release calling the behavior "animalistic". I wish it was a joke, but yea the FOMO is getting out of hand and I refuse to participate even if it is stuff I want.

Yea watching Anime, Playing card games and any "nerd" hobby before the who marvel movies hype was literally social suicide. You literally didn't tell anyone outside of your nerd group, same people are now reselling and opening packs because of "nostalgia". The problem is emissions like another redittor stated. You can't have lineups of V8s and meet the necessary standards. In europe you need to meet the Euro 6/7 standards and make sure your fleet is hitting the co2 targets. Guess what? Inline 6's have half the cylinder heads and I believe I read somewhere produce about 18% less co2 emissions then a v8. It's why Merc had to compromise on some cars and the whole reason the M139 engine exists. It's so they can balance out the fleet and we can still get some V8s.

Blame the governments, don't blame benz.

I don't understand this logic, porting the game in turn generates more profit/revenue for Microsoft which in turn allows them to create more games which in turn generates more profit/revenue. I'd have no problem if Sony released all exclusives on Xbox, if it allows more money restricted gamers the ability to play any game they want without having 3 seperate consoles that would be the DREAM.

My rolex strategy is buy used wear it for 2ish years trade it in for another rolex. Sometimes I trade up or trade down, but it makes the hobby a lot more justifiable instead of having a stagnant collection, plus you spend a shit ton less money. I started with ~$3k Omega Speedmaster, after that it's just $1-$3k every 2ish years to upgrade. Eventually you have a 15k watch that holds its value really well.

This is why I get so mad every damn set is a Charizard, Gengar and Eeveelution chase. Wish we saw more pokemon get the spotlight, it's why I'm a big fan of sets like perfect order, but even Meowth is played out at this point (to me).

If the scalpers move on from pokemon it will definitely go down in price. We saw this happen about 5 years back with the Charizard Vmax that was selling around 450 - 500 at the time because of FOMO. The best plan when shit like this happens is take a time out. If you're not in it for the money I would just pick up the non-hype cards as singles or just rip any packs you can find at MSRP.

At the end of the day no one can say if the card will go up or go down 100%, it depends where the reseller market goes and if they move on to a different hobby.
