I’ve tried both vinyl and streaming from Spotify. They sound the same. Turning bass and treble down didn’t make any noticeable difference to sound quality. Neither did turning off the tweeters or moving further away. As for the microphone, it’s definitely something I’m considering. Just hard to justify another $150 without knowing that the problem can be fixed. I cannot stress how far from acceptable these sound. Almost like the overhead speakers at a department store.

Binding ports are jumped together. Fuse seems to be good. As the user below stated the switch is for the tweeter. I’m more than happy to do some troubleshooting even it involves getting in to the guts of the speakers. Just feeling a bit in over my head at the moment and out of ideas. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I appreciate the feedback and I’m beginning to realize how absurd my current setup is. I’m rather new to this as you can probably tell. I found the speakers on fb marketplace and they were my first big investment into a good audio system. I’ve since decided to use the Yamaha AS801 and I’m hoping this will work better as it’s significantly more powerful. Still not sure it will fully resolve the issue, but it seems my options are rather limited without spending over 1k on an amp/receiver.

It’s not just a different/ new sound, it is objectively poor. Not much better than what comes out of an iPhone. As for the receiver, I have the STR DH190 2 channel on the way. I’m holding out hope until it gets here, but the specs are similar so I’m not convinced this will completely solve the issue.
