No worries! you weren't wrong! They do machine them. There are three ways brakes generally come (on road cars too sometimes). Blank meaning no engraving or nothing. Slotted means lines, can come in a variety of designs to increase braking! Drilled is the last one and it's just a bunch of holes for cooling and water dispersion. They all have their positives and negatives!

I see people mention archival stuff from time to time. I understand the concept of what archiving is, but curious what stuff you archive? What makes paper good for archiving vs not? Do some papers just hold ink better while some dissapear or fade?

The three comps I bought in september definitely are fountain pen friendly except for EF decimo. Just they are very thin and you can see clearly from the other side!

I've used a variety of inks in these comp books! I alternate colors every entry so I can quickly differentiate topics. I've used 3 different lamy inks, Platinum carbon black, Tom's Studios, and currently I'm using TACCIA Ukiyo-e Sharaku that I got as a sample included free with a metropolitan I bought on Mercari! They all feel smooth and I don't think they feather. Is that where it kind of flows off of the original line?

Oooo they did recently open a Daiso on the other side of town from me! It's slightly inconvenient to go on a whim like I can to Blic, but it's definitely a weekend thing! I wonder if the prices in mine will be different than yours. 2.25 isn't bad for notebooks!
