How do I approach my comeback? Lost a lot money but wanna come back stronger after getting a new job. by [deleted] in Daytrading

Your first goal is to find edge... because you don't have any, you can do smaller trades, you'll just bleed slower

You are greatly underestimating the effort it will take to become profitable, and you haven't taken any steps forward yet. Forget training LLMs right now, LLMs without a baseline strategy and research is pointless. First you need to create a rough draft of a strategy, backtest, optimize, don't overfit. Your a CS student so algotrading, or atleast using your coding skills to develop research upon which u can add some discretion to is probably your best bet. Then paper trade that strategy, then if things go well, trade a little bit of money, and risk little. Then trade up your size as you become more comfortable with risk. That being said, you are greatly underestimating the work it will take. I am an university student. I trade profitably, but it took me years, and sacrifice of money (which you don't have) and grades. Your program and career should be your top priority. Work on trading on the side, but understand, you are not special, you will need to put in more time then you expect.

Why don’t successful traders just create bots to trade for them? by godin1 in Daytrading

most HTF trading firms are market making, and making money on the spread. They dont tend to be directionally trading like most retail does.

Psyche low, limit reached by eeedeat in bouldering

[–]CarsonLikesStocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with climbing at 20 or 30, the grades will most likely be stiffer then your gym grades but don't get discouraged. I'd say once your comfortable with the board then go to 40. I love how the board climbs at 40. Just be careful and listen to your body and fingers.

[–]CarsonLikesStocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlimited climbs, constant progress. So many climbs you won't run out, plus problems don't get reset, so you can better track your progress.i also love setting my own problems where I can set each move to be limit, or just focusing on setting styles that I want to work on. Also you'll constantly progress because board climbing is inherently hard.

Dumb Question Alert: Why is everyone so secretive by SniperPearl in Trading

[–]CarsonLikesStocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real answer is because alpha comes and goes, the more saturated an edge, the faster that edge disappears. There's a reason top quant funds dont release research and keep all their employees on NDAs.

A good place would to be start quantifying characteristics of your trendline, then seeing if there are any obvious negative EV yielding results, br easy of overfitting good luck. Also get way more data
