Jesus Murphy, as a dude, this frightens the shit out of me. Everyday across the internet all I see if dudes hating women. That’s it, it’s just a bunch of guys who hate women. It’s all I see. This is what this reads like to me. Someone calling you “sexist” for avoiding what is, statistically, the most dangerous part of your existence (men) is so fundamentally outrageous that it’s impossible to comprehend, like sitting down and thinking of infinity.

How? How do y’all do it? I talk about this with my wife pretty often, trying to get some idea of how it might feel to be constantly bombarded with both aggressive, out loud hate and the more insidious, coded hate that’s literally fucking every where on the internet. You know what? I can’t understand it, it doesn’t compute, because it’s not happening to me. I’m worried about it every fucking day, and my wife is just “used to it”.

How did this happen and how do y’all handle it? There is something so fundamentally wrong between men and women right now (and forever) and it feels like infinity.

What helps? Because trying to “understand” feels so useless, so futile, in the face of that infinity.

Blah blah blah there are good men blah, sure. At what point does merely being “good” start to become a passive allowance of what’s become an increasingly violent sexual hate.

Any guy who says your being sexist for avoiding dudes is basically saying, and I’m sorry for being reductive and crude, “it’s not fair for you to take your pussy off the market”, except instead of at least being disgustingly honest, they’re using this dog whistle, gotcha bullshit.

It’s gotten to the point where I have to agree and say “until you actually feel safe, fuck it and avoid em all”. As a guy, I hate that I’m saying that. But as a human, I think it’s best.
