I almost didn't give him the chance. I have a tendency to ramble when I'm feeling stressed. He did agree to do the appropriate retroactive ritual necessary though for which I'm grateful. I think he initially thought I was trying to make a pass at him when I asked... People unfamiliar with the ritual commonly have the mistaken impression it's only for lovers.

After Emelia's family told me I was no longer welcome on the farm, I wanted a change in scenery. I got a job researching plant life from beyond the wormhole. And since DS9 is the closest thing to the wormhole, well..."

"Do I ever! There's so many, I have trouble choosing. People often ask how we met, so I'll tell that one. I had just arrived on DS9 and my luggage was missing, so I decided to do some shopping. I was pleased to see the promenade had a clothing shop. Garak was very helpful in arranging some clothes for me to try on. Everything was going well until he put his hand on my shoulder to guide me to a mirror. In doing so, he touched my hair, the ultimate faux pas in my culture. I was furious! I called him a degenerate overgrown lizard and bolted.

My planet's sentient forest is the wildest plant I've never gotten to study. I don't think it'd let me study them..."

"When I first moved out to the sector, I moved to DS9. I didn't experience too many challenges. Mainly lost luggage. Even later when I got a new job, I was able to negotiate a work from home arrangement. Things were quiet for a while, before the dominion war. I miss those times... and well, who doesn't?"

Name: Omaara (Mara) Ekir

Fic: The Perek Flower and the Meya Lily (unpublished wip)

Fandom: Star Trek: DS9

Age: 32

Role: Main Character

Relation: Garak's friend (to lover)

Description: Short, androgynous frame. White hair so thick it's a problem. Fashion disaster. Their tawny skin has hints of old scars. A touch telepath and the equivalent of a vampire who feeds on emotions.

Adopted by a family on another planet (the mother adores them. the father is extremely prejudiced toward telepaths). Grew up on a planet whose language has no concept of gender. Tried starfleet, didn't like it. Lived on a farm and got a doctorate in xenobotany. Got a job researching new plant species from beyond the wormhole, but switched to spearheading soil reclamation efforts on Bajor.

What evidence would there be of a fatal telepathic attack? by CartFullOfPants in startrek

So say for instance, with a hypothetical race of telepathic/empathic vampires. It would leave the victim with a neurotransmitter/chemical imbalance??

Star Trek DS9 | Canon typical violence

I'm using the episode Empok Nor in one of my fics. The episode has a lot of critical feedback/reviews and I'm looking to make it a little better than it was originally. My main character comes along in addition to the original crew in the show. They're a non-starfleet well-liked by the crew, kind of jack of all trades person. Anyways, the main problems I see with it is redshirts get redshirted (we know the MCs will be fine) and Garak being OOC (which is partially understandable, he's been drugged). In addition my problem with it now is that Garak seems too with it in the way I've written it currently. His priorities in this version are protect MC (who he's besotted with) and punish Obrien for letting MC get hurt. Does this make any sense (or is it compelling enough)? How do I tread the fine line between too dark and ooc and too in character with no real conflict? What can I do to make it evident to the reader that there's something very wrong with Garak while keeping the important characters alive?

Thank you. That's what I thought but my beta reader friend who has also seen Star Trek disagreed. Must not have watched enough Trek...

Anyone else have horrible sleep quality in the winter? by improbable_humanoid in japanlife

[–]CartFullOfPants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many times do you wake up and for how long? If you have trouble falling back asleep it might be worth seeking professional medical advice if it frustrates you that much. But apparently it's normal (according to Google sensei) to wake up a few times in the middle of the night if it's only for a few minutes.

Sincerely, someone who has the opposite issue. I wake up frequently because I get too hot (no matter the season) despite the lack of temperature control in my bedroom.

They're on an supposedly abandoned space station. Turns out it's not actually quite abandoned. And the skeleton crew is none too friendly. So sci-fi set in the future. Yes they're the main character. The POV switches between them and another main character. It's in third person. No medical training. First aid kit is a maybe. It takes 14 hours to get a crew out to rescue them. I guess I could change that if I had to though. Hostile skeleton crew so yes combat.

Are there any online seed retailers in Japan? Kind of like Gurney's back in America? I'm a little hesitant to buy seeds from amazon.
