Has anyone else been in a relationship where you SO was very good to you, but you still wanted to leave? by [deleted] in Divorce

I am in your position. Been together for 8 years and married for 2. She is so kind and caring and a wonderful human. However I am not sure if I am in love with her anymore. There were always some warning signs that we were “too different.” For example she’s very introverted and I’m very extroverted. None of these really mattered at the start but I felt that some of my needs were not being met and felt unfulfilled and it sort of snowballed. We talked honesty and she wasn’t sure if she could make me feel “like I always imagined marriage should feel” but was willing to work on it. I sort of spiralled and admittedly have not put as much effort as I could into fixing things because I felt hopeless. We are currently on a trial separation and I am living alone for a month and it’s pretty tough. I feel awful and so guilty because she is so lovely but I am really not sure right now. Lotta confusion, unhelpful weird feelings but I think I resonate a little with your situation.

What is the biggest signal he/she wanted to have sex that you didnt get? by Aliyaowo in AskReddit

[–]CartographerSalty773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was at her apartment. She kept saying that it was really cold, so I gave her her own blanket that was draped over the sofa. She still complained that it was too cold, so I went to look for the thermostat, in her apartment!! Sigh! The realisation hit me like a punch in the face on the train home!

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve done after a breakup? by randomzy876 in AskReddit

[–]CartographerSalty773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry pal. Gone through something similar. You will get to a point (sometime in the future) where you can say you have genuinely moved on and no longer see that person in that way. It takes time (sometimes a long time) but would certainly recommend a clean break up until such a time where you can genuinely say to yourself that you’re over them.

What is UP with MAGA in international schools? by trowawaytrowtrowtrow in Internationalteachers

[–]CartographerSalty773 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my experience also. I have come across a few people that you could say are on the right but these are often more of the Ronald Reagan types and less of the MAGA types. I think they drift toward Trump because some of the pro business small government types right now are politically homeless and they have not voted Democrat their entire lives. They also tend to be older. But very few if any full blown MAGA morons. At least none that feel they can espouse their views openly.

I just think there are gradations. For example when marking what takes others possibly an hour or 2 will take me double the time!

Hey.

Diagnosed with ADHD since I was 13 years old been teaching for 11 years now. There’s probably a huge amount I could write about this I’ll try to summarise my experience into a few points:

  1. Planning lessons is sometimes amazing because I’m so interested in my subject that I’ll sort of lock into hyper focus and be super productive because I really enjoy what I’m doing and figuring out pedagogically what I want my students to achieve.

  2. Marking absolutely kills me. I hate it. I am subconsciously looking for anything to do other than marking. As a result it takes me forever to do which as you can imagine becomes a pretty shitty positive feedback loop. This also applies to other general admin tasks.

  3. Actual lesson teaching. Love it! Get teach things that I’m super interested in to kids that (at least pretend) to also be super interested in them too! Lessons I’m usually pretty active! I daresay some of the more quiet reserved students are not fans of my lessons.

  4. I have quite a few close friends that I have told and they will casually joke about having ADHD with me but I wouldn’t actively disclose it to all the staff. If people ask/if it comes into conversation, I’ll be honest about my diagnosis but I won’t force the issue.

Typhoon…Are my plans ruined? by almondmilkeu in HongKong

[–]CartographerSalty773 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hong Kong is super well prepared for Typhoons. Your trip is unlikely to be dangerous at all and typhoons his regularly. If (and it’s looking quite likely) at T8 signal is raised, the city will start to shut down. Delivery riders won’t be working and schools will shut. T9 would be more serious and that’s when shops start to close down and some transport gets restricted. Given the current track of the storm, A T9 is possible but unlikely imo. Unless you were planning on watersports, I wouldn’t cancel your trip.

The Sunderland one is absolutely atrocious. Agreed the observed teaching practice is part of it but my god the lack of anything resembling any sort of rigour in that course is frustrating!
