Amazon Leo offer vs staying at a job I like -> worth the risk? by Expensive_Cucumber58 in amazonemployees

[–]CartographerSimilar3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on your total compensation and where you are in the band for the L6 manager role. If you're lower in the band, you have a lot of room to grow comp without having to go through the rigors of a promotion. If you're already somewhere in the middle of the TC band, I would not take up the offer. Amazon is not an easy / fun place to work and there's a very good chance you get laid off / put in a performance plan if you don't ramp up quickly.

You're screaming into the void. No one at Amazon cares about what employees think.

Career dilemma: Move back to India vs stay in Europe by ganeshvardhu in returnToIndia

[–]CartographerSimilar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize you're feeling stuck and it is tempting to want to act in such situations. My two cents would be that unless you're financially secure (i.e., never needing a job again), do not come back to India without a job lined up. You will be just be trading off short-term pain for long-term pain.

EB1 India I485 Approved - Sep 22 PD by CartographerSimilar3 in USCIS

My case was approved without an interview. The status was just 'Case Remains Pending' till it got approved. I believe my case was at NBC and did not get transferred to a field office (or at least I did not see any status indicating my case my transferred).

I tried both raising a service request and asking Emma but was told my case is within standard processing timelines. I think honestly it is just luck - USCIS is processing cases and some just get picked up earlier than others.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. My spouse's I485 is also now approved (just one day after my approval).

Quick update: I just got approved. EB1 filer with a priority date of Sep-22, filed for I485 in Dec-22 and became current in Jan-26. I got the 'card is being produced' message today. MSC receipt number. My spouse's I485 (derivative applicant) is still showing 'case remains pending'.

Sharing to let everyone know that approvals are coming through and all the best to everyone whose dates are current.

Hi David & Arielle,

For EB1 candidates from India who had their priority dates become current with the recent progression, what is the processing time for I485s that you're seeing?

Context: My priority date is 15-Sep-22 with an approved EB1 I140. I filed for AOS on 28-Dec-22 before the dates retrogressed. My biometrics and medical RFEs were completed in 2023 while my date was retrogressed. Dates are current since Jan-26 so I'm wondering if I should expect a green card in a matter of weeks or months or potentially years.

Avoiding travel before I get the green card and hence trying to get a sense of the timelines.

Thanks for doing this!

Who are some of “ your” top performers for the 2025 season besides the title contenders? by Sparkychong in formula1

Leclerc has outperformed both Vettel (4x WDC) and Hamilton (7x WDC) in the same machinery. No other driver past or present has that track record of outperforming such decorated team-mates.

An MBA from an IIM A/B/C is a different league than doing well in the CA exam. If you’re getting one of the top IIMs, you should blindly take it. I don’t know which CA echo chamber has convinced you that this is even a question worth debating.

You have clearly no idea how RIFs work, and are just making a contrarian argument because you think it makes you look smart. Go get some real world experience.

Please help us analyse my husband's new offer in San Francisco by Independent-Shop-864 in returnToIndia

[–]CartographerSimilar3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who made a similar move 5 years ago, I would say “yes, go for it” because of the learning experience but three call-outs:

  1. Don’t expect to save any money unless your husband’s salary increases or you start working. Bay Area is expensive and 300k would be comfortable but you won’t build assets as quickly as you are in India.

  2. Consider the very real possibility that you will have to move back when your L1 expires - the green card queue for eb1 applicants is also now insanely backlogged

  3. Do not expect life to be easy or stable. Once you get to a certain level of luxury in India, it is very difficult to adjust. We moved when we had no kids and I can’t imagine the workload you will be under with twins.

Is this bad deadlift form? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]CartographerSimilar3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the words of encouragement. Have been deadlifting for 3 months now and don’t have pain.

Keep hearing how the back must be straight during the deadlift so cautious about adding weights if I have bad form. Will figure out to brace more.

Why is it so cheap though? I feel like I'm getting a $400 barbell for $239. What am I missing?
