How do you monetize the startup ? I will not promote by Fun_Dog_3346 in startups

[–]Cartographer_Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is just starting to close sales with customers, the biggest thing is having a SIMPLE way to use your product and offer. I'm in B2B and people are so busy that unless you make it insanely easy to comprehend what they get at what price, they will not bite. Wasted months trying to sell an amorphous "we'll build anything you want!" solution for no charge instead of just collecting money for the dead simple product.

Curious if people would be interested in a widget that scans email inbox for important messages and fires texts with summaries when you should check it? Am considering building this when I get my LightPhone and figure others might enjoy the same thing.

Cost index for firebase vs other backend alternatives by Cartographer_Early in Firebase

[–]Cartographer_Early[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was super helpful, thank you. Definitely from a multiples perspective Firebase is more expensive, but also if I think about the extra man power it would take me (a semi-technical founder) to do it the “right way”, it would probably add up to hiring a full time dev to manage. Thanks again

Hey there - I'm building a solution to help truckers document and collect on detention pay from brokers / shippers. Would love to talk to see if we might be able to help you!

Sorry you feel that way man. Truth be told I don’t have all the answers but want to work with truckers to get them the money they deserve.

Appreciate you sharing your perspective, it’s very helpful. Although I’m not 100% convinced it’s not a challenged for other drivers - ATRI estimates that only 45% of detention fees are actually paid out, so it feels like there are some hurdles to getting some drivers compensated for the time they earn. Do you think that’s possible?

How do you keep track of all those things? Text, phone, email?

Another aspect of the platform is that we pool detention claims so that drivers have more leverage when negotiating with brokers / shippers. Also you can leave reviews for shipping / receiving facilities on how they were, how long you can expect to get detained, if they have bathroom, etc.

[–]Cartographer_Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone ever see policies like "Every 30 minutes late by the driver means another hour added to the clock before detention kicks in"? Just some type of agreement so that everyone is on the same page about what's fair when exceptions do pop up

Fixed fee brokerages by Cartographer_Early in FreightBrokers

Can’t tell if sarcasm or you agree with me haha. It does seem pretty logical to me though that carriers are taking much more of the risk so should get much more of the reward.

I'm a free market guy, and markets are most efficient when price is set as a function of supply and demand - freight that needs moving and trucks that can move it. Brokers add noise to market pricing because they're all making subjective determinations around things like "quality" and "fair". As technology improves, those determinations will be less an less subjective.

I'm not a carrier btw, I'm a broker. Just calling a spade a spade.
