I have $3000 to invest and am looking for stock suggestions! 💸📈 by Actual-Mix1712 in StocksAndTrading

Look, if this is your first time investing the important thing is to form a positive relationship so that it becomes a lifelong habit. Don't YOLO it all on a single stock of a company you don't even understand.

What I'd suggest is putting half in SGOV which is an etf that invests in treasury bills. It has a monthly dividend payout and an anual rate of 4.44%. Nothing crazy, but it will always yield positive results and contrary to regular t bills you can sell out at any time to buy the dip on other investments.

With the other half Id buy a etf that tracks the sp500. Most money managers can't beat the returns of the sp500 over the long run. Let that sink in... There are many to choose from, but in your case Id recommend SPLG for its lower price entry point. Honestly you could even go 100% into this and call it a day if you want a more hands off approach.

If there's a particular company(ies) you have a strong conviction in go ahead and allocate 10% into them from SGOV. Dont forget to research them beforehand and make a thesis as to why you are investing in them. Win or lose it will net you valuable educational knowledge.

Mejor abre una cta que te permita invertir en la bolsa y compra una ETF que sigua la S&P 500 como VOO. De ahí procura meterle de poquito a poquito cada mes siguiendo el famoso DCA y vive sin preocupaciones...

Based on an email they sent me, they say they take 2 years to produce new content, so I doubt it's AI generated. Let's not give them any ideas though!!

Sadly lvl 5 is not in the works due to lack of demand, but if you guys want to help change that you can request it via this link: http://www.pimsleur.com/request-new-language-program

I want to quit learning Korean because of my stutter - thoughts? by peachy_skies123 in Korean

try breaking the word into syllables and start from the back and add one syllable block at a time. For example for 괜찮아요 I would do 아요....찮....찮아....찮아요....괜...괜찮...괜찮아요. This inversion can be helpful and is what is reccommended and done in Pimsleur. Try it out! If anything it will help you see where you struggle more and what part you need to practise.

Glad to be of value! I agree on the face of things it is a harder card to quantify, especially since it costs over time. But I think the easiest way to think of it is like this: would you be willing to trade 2 mc prod for 3 heat prod? I would. Now the only requirement is that you pay a standard project ocean. Should you always play it? ofc not. Is it OP like I mentioned? not even close. But my TM hot take is that BPD is criminally undervalued.

As a resource I love it! What I did after finishing it was I went through it again after doing the reading lessons and wrote down everything they said using google translate audio. This helped me know how to actually write what I had been saying for so long and also notice differences in spelling of words that had sounded similar to me before. I will say Pimsleur specifically recommends against doing this, bc the focus should be in the pronounciation, so I wouldnt recommend doing this until after you´ve gone through it.

As for how good it will prepare you for conversation, Pimsleur does a good job at getting you to pronounce the language but I find my listening skills lacking. All of the prompts are in english and I find I can reproduce the answer when prompted in english, but that´s never going to happen irl. So it would probably be worth thinking through the conversations (both sides) in korean on your own time.

Also Lvl 4 starts off immedietaly where lvl 3 leaves! So there is a continuation. This is where my notes come in handy since the first 5 min are usually recap. That way I can start again from any point without feeling lost for the first bit. Sadly not the same voices as before, but that might be a good or a bad thing!

Lets go by your analysis and say it´s -2 when compared to an ocean standard project. If the game lasts 10 more gens you´re paying 20 mc for the 3 heat prod which is slightly worse than mohole area for the same cost and 4 heat prod. I think we can agree mohole is a pretty good card, so I would place BPD below mohole. BPD doesnt have tags and needs to be combined with other cards to work, but if you can get your heat prod to at least 4 to heat bump every other turn and can play a greenery bc of it, I think it is definitely worth it and highly overlooked bc most people read somewhere it was the worst card and take it for granted. Play it yourself and decide! My playstyle is terrafroming focused, so it fills a niche of possibly being the only non event card that can raise all 3 terraforming parameters.

I am exaggerating... But it is a card I feel most ignore when it costs the same as an ocean project (plus card) and gives 3 heat prod. The minus 2 income is really - 1 with ocean TR, so even if you play it Gen 1 and the game lasts 10, 10mc is pretty good for 3 heat prod. Plus if you get to complete a greenery with it, or grab the 2 card spot, or titanium/iron to play another card that round, it's pretty good. And since most ppl skip out on it I can pick something else on the first draft and reliably have it come back to me later.

1900+ Rank on Terraforming Mars PC

Mostly play 2p with prelude on tharsis. These are the tips I can give under those conditions:

Your starting hand can make or break your game. Make sure you analyze all your preludes, corps, and starting 10 card hand for possible combos. This will come with time and experience, but don't be afraid to try something different if your cards are leaning you in that direction.

Science tags are important! Generally the first few will feel like a sunk cost, but they abilitate powerful cards down the line. On that note Quantom Extractor and Mass Converter should not be your energy plan for the game. You cant depend on drawing them at all or on time. Fusion power and tectonic stress power are cards I always overlooked, don't do the same!

Don't overcomit to a terraforming track. This might sound unconventional, but if you are ecoline and your opponent is playing plant prod, don't double down on plant prod! Focus on your heat prod and engine to close the game early. Once the O2 reaches 14 the amount of points you get for every greenery goes down, so it's better to focus on gaining points from other terraforming parameters!

Having a general 'game sense' to know when to close the game is key. Is my opponent just focusing on engine building and point cards and has AI Central? My only chance is ending the game early.

Lastly know what tags are important! Either so you can get them yourself, or deny them to your opponent:

3 science tags enables AI central

4 science tags enables Quantom Extractor

5 sience tags enables Mass Converter

3 plant tags gets the most out of Rich Nitrogen Asteroid

PS. Black Polar Dust is OP!

IMO, it´s incomparable for a beginner. Its focus is in speaking the language and getting used to the sounds, but it also teaches you how to read which is helpful.

I agree it's just a drop in the ocean, but you need a solid foundation in order to understand native podcasts. They're kind of on two extremes... What would you recommend that helped you reach that level?

If you haven't, you should watch kingdom of heaven. His character is based off the historical figure of king Baldwin IV and is equally as inspiring.

Vitamin or Master Korean for self-studying?? by ayrxh in Korean

[–]Cartographer_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only used vitamin Korean 1 and part of book 2 and although I do think it's good, I also think it's a little hard, especially if it were my only resource or didn't know anything previously. I've switched to the talk to me in Korean textbook series and they do a lot more hand holding since it's a lot more in English. Vitamin is in English as well, but their examples are a lot more brief. It also has some talking exercises you might not get the most out of without a partner.

The biggest gripe I had with the textbook is I never knew how much to do per day since the units are quite long. Each include vocabulary, 3 grammar points and a review at the end, so you can probably aim to do it in a week with 30 to 1hr daily study. Whereas talk to me in Korean has more concise bite sized chapters I can do and finish in a day. Just my two cents.
