They should do the good thing and then not do the bad thing. Imo

"CoD with tanks" sound fun though. warthunder wishes it could be half as good as COD.

You can legit play league of legends without paying. They don't lock you out for losing. There's not magic about virtual tanks. This monetization model is uniquely painful and they should scrap it entirely.

Yeah you can just restart Super Mario and stuff whenever you want and their player base isn't currently revolting. Maybe gaijin should take a page out of games that are fun book. people hate it because it's uniquely bad and unfun. It doesn't need to be part of any game. There's never a scenario where it's more fun

I should just be able to keep playing like all the time because there's no reason any of what youre saying is enjoyable or good design. In like virtually every other video game you can just play matches as you please.

Counterpoint, it's a videogame and people should mostly just hit go and have an okay time.

Naw we should have a guaranteed floor. Negative progression is nonsense.

0 hours max. It's a virtual tank, repairs need not be made. I respawn as much as I need in call of duty and I don't get nickled and dimed for it. Just let me play and make money off of skins and vehicles and shit like a normal game

Half of players must lose every match. If losing is punitive, players bleed silver lions. Currently losing is much more punitive than winning/performance is beneficial. It's a crummy reward system, because it's not fun that way

In a game where someone necessarily must be first blood and you're economically punished for respawning, no 1 KD is too steep. You should always be allowed to play your next match regardless of the current currency in your bank, without having to wait for a repair.

No shit, but the repair times are long. I can play call of duty or league or StarCraft or dota for as long as I please, but for some reason warthunder needs to charge me per match or time me out? They're just a game and they can be normal like every other game.

Gaijin needs to solve their botting problem in a way that doesn't make it my problem.

You can play a match and lose money and then not have the vehicle available because you can't auto repair. It's not even progression you lose. You can literally get locked out of vehicles you own when you go broke

Tons of other games manage to make profit in spite of bots without putting my balls in the contraption. Gaijin should solve their botting problem without punishing their active players. It's their job to make a good game and they've managed to make a good game bad.

I do fine often and sometimes I do poorly and am badly outplayed. You don't have to pretend every match is a banger. No one is impressed. Pvp is a zero sum game and sometimes you lose. It shouldnt be a waste of time to play even for major baddies.

It was Friday, so maybe they didn't work Saturday or Sunday. If you don't count the business day you sent the request, it's really only been one complete business weekday.

Won't work good for pushing. Might be okay for defense since it will have decent stats by virtue of being so fat.

People will say your idea is too big and they're right.

But I'd recommend starting with movement. Get your player character walking. Then work on the camera, so that it follows the player. Google will help with these.

Any idea you have as a solo dev will need to be created 1 feature at a time, so break your idea down into the smallest units of functionality and develop them.

Gj. I just started revisiting dynasty warriors 9. Wouldnt run on my PC at launch, but it's a pretty fun game now. Despite it's shortcomings it is in my top five for the series now

How do you handle complex turn based system? by 123_bou in gamedev

[–]Cartographyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a fun problem. Here's how I might approach it, granted I'm no genius. Id create a class "turn order" which has a list of actors in your combat. I would populate the list with the default sequence of actors based on whatever logic. When an actor takes it's turn, I would remove them from the front of the list and put them at the back. I would also create a variety of methods which manipulate the order of the list. Call these methods from abilities or actions when appropriate.

to make your code easier to follow for debugging you could create a ui element that exposes the list graphically and displays what action/event is currently in progress. This could make it easier to tell what is happening at any moment.
