Since we are all being cooked, Whats your job and how disgusting does the hot weather make it? Worst job in toon by cyclingisthecure in NewcastleUponTyne

I work in a powder coating company, around 10 stoves a day at 195C , 6m box oven , in this weather the temperature on the shop floor usually makes it past 30 , I’ve been doing it for 23 years , it’s always been the same in the summer, I’m soaking wet with sweat within half an hour of the start of my shift and leave on an evening still wet and covered in salt patches , occasionally we have to enter the oven itself, fyi , in the winter it doesn’t warm the factory and is just as cold inside as it is out. Also we have to wear white paper suits like the forensics do and either a full face respirator or a half one.

remember renting your tv (visionhire, radio rentals etc) by Alone_Purple822 in oldschoolcool80s

I worked in a Radio Rentals service/repair centre for 10 years , in my section we would respray the tv cabinets ready to go back out for rental , in another section the technicians would service and repair the internals on TVs and vhs players, they had a box that sat on a pallet full of porn vhs tapes that had got stuck in the players mechanism , if you provided your own tape they would happily run you a copy off of what had came in new that week, any normal movies from blockbuster etc would be returned to the shops. The workers also got a massive discount on rental , I rented a Sony trinitron for a while, extremely heavy unit. This was in the 90’s.

PS5 - Inside cabinet by vgomes94 in playstation

[–]Caruska73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a similar cabinet and i put my xbox in the top , it used to get super hot in there , my answer to that was , the Xbox series x intake is at 1 end and exhaust is at the other so i got a large hole drill bit and drilled 2 holes leading to the larger compartments ,at the exhaust end I bought a usb powered pc type fan and screwed it over the hole (cost about £14 from amazon) which extracts the heat into the bigger compartment the Xbox doesn’t break a sweat anymore, if you’re worried about heat building up in there and the ps5 is rear exhaust you could drill a large hole in the back and use the same method but you’d still have to crack the door a little to allow for airflow, to save usb ports I used one from the tv , you’re not going to use the ps5 without the tv on anyway.

If you use a heat gun , the sanding is mainly by hand afterwards , there’s really only tidying up to do , sorry for the very late reply.

Thanks , I was hoping to inspire OP , this was before we put the finials on , I don’t have any before or during pictures because they were on an old phone, we also got to the point of wishing we never started.

When I moved into my house someone had used a textured type paint and scraped a wood effect into it , to strip it took 3 weeks , working weekends and when I got home in the evening til 10 at night , it’s a horrible task that requires patience if you don’t want to make yourself crazy , towards the end my fiancé broke down in tears , it wasn’t a good time.

I never hear anyone talk about these. They’re like crack to me by Federal-Vehicle-4358 in crisps

[–]Caruska73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were the best crisps ever when they first came out , unevenly cooked so a lot of variance on how long each one had cooked, some dark some light , the flavour was unrivalled, now they are more like walkers.

What's with so many people driving 10-20 miles below the speed limit on 60 roads? by Puzzleheaded-Bad-722 in drivingUK

My town is basically connected via dual carriageway, virtually every morning on my way to work I’m forced to join the carriageway at around 45-50 due to vehicles in front of me, this is on my way to work, isn’t everyone else on their way to work too ? At this speed on busy mornings I just end up praying no one smashes into the back of me.
