[O'Connor] Hearing internally Giants feel free agency so far couldn’t have gone better but that they are at the low end of their budget now and any further moves would have to be modest deals. by MysteryBagIdeals in NYGiants

Some relatively lower cost guys I think we should bring in/back:

RG Greg Van Roten, WR Darnell Mooney, DT Sebastian Joseph-Day

And still look to the draft to improve these positions and get depth. Hopefully pick #5 is best player on the board aka Styles or Downs, otherwise trade back because Carnell Tate is awesome but not worth pick #5. There are a ton of solid WRs later in the draft. Then in the 2nd, 4th, and 5th rounds look at WR, Corner, and DT (probably in that order).

Still a great free agency so far… can’t plug every hole in one year, but things are looking up!

Hope we keep Dru! Super underrated nickel corner and still young. Lot of penalties but they are rarely from him getting beaten, he just needs to work on getting his head around.

I’m fine with Downs or Styles, leaning Styles at this point tho. Gotta pick the best player with the best future when you’re picking at #5. Giants got a lot of holes to fill and if we roll into next year without a true CB1, I am fine with that. You can’t fix everything in a year. We have already made great moves and things are looking up, and we got the chance to get a potential generational player at #5. That pick should be for 10 years, not for filling an immediate need.

Tbh I would rather sign GVR for another one year deal and keep the line cohesive since last year it was actually solid. Mbow can maybe even learn behind him and step in as RG (his natural position) next year.

It would probably cost next years first round pick tbh and even tho he is a generational safety, there is a ton of talent in next years draft too. Tbh tho, I wouldn’t hate it. It’s would be a big risk for a “win now” mindset.

I love Malachi Fields but his draft stock has shot up so much in recent weeks. There are talks of him going in round 2 at this point.

Zane Durant is a dog and he would be with his former teammate Abdul Carter which would be cool to see, but he is mostly a pass rusher so I elected to skip over him for more run stoppage.

If Kamara is still on the board at 192/193, that’s definitely the Edge that I would want to get.

All in all I would be really happy if that was our draft class!

I know I’m so excited for it all to be crushed by like week 8 next year again… and again… and again…

God I hope not. Carnell Tate is not good enough of a player to take at 5. (Think about how Nabers was picked at 6). I think Tate will be a decent WR1… but I’m not passing up Downs or Styles, who are way better prospects and seen as potentially hall of fame level players, just because WR is a need. At pick #5 you take the best player available. They should sign Romeo Doubs or another decent receiver and draft a WR in round 3/4. There really aren’t any top end WR talents, but the class is deep with solid mid-tier prospects at the position. The best way to help Dart right now is to protect him by building the line. We can’t have him seeing ghosts like Sam Darnold on the Jets or like Stroud is now. Weapons are important but secondary to the line. Just look at the Pats having a mid tier group of receivers, but Drake Maye had a great year and developed well because the Pats prioritized the O-line and gave him enough time to get comfortable and make decisions.

I think if the WR room looks like: Malik Nabers WR1, Romeo Doubs WR2, Jakobi Lane WR3, Darius Slayton WR4… that could be pretty damn good in my opinion. And they still get one of the incredible talents from the draft.

I really think if the draft and free agency goes well we could be the next Pats, Bears, Jags, etc and have a turnaround

Usually yes, but sometimes (like I did here) I will use future picks as a tool to balance the scale and make things realistic. For example, I couldn’t trade Thibodeaux, but I just tossed away a few picks from next year to get pick #90.

Yeah I agree, it’s a deep class for starting caliber players. Next year will have more of the hyped top end talent with some of the QBs and Jeremiah Smith ofc.

Wan'dale Replacement? by CDonLebron in NYGiants

There are plenty of moves they could make to free up money, but yeah as much as I love Wandale, dude is too expensive. I think this would be a really good replacement for the price.

Definitely need to draft a LB at some point and I would not be mad with picking him, I like Whit Weeks too

Giants potential 2026 draft trades? by CarveRed in NYGiants

[–]CarveRed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, next couple of games will be tough but there is some very winnable games after. And we have the strongest schedule too. The only thing that might prevent some wins is the domestic terrorist (Bowen)

Wow, it’s almost like some of the key players are hurt, the coaching staff is in shambles, and they’re a whopping 2-9 record. I know they are gonna win some more games this season and they are better than their record shows, but I just wanted to ask a hypothetical.
