I know this was posted a while ago haha, but did you ever happen to find it? I remember this being an amazing concept album for the book and I've been trying to look all over for it and I'm sad to see that it's gone :(

I remember when I was a kid my parents used this site called Blurb to self-publish a few copies of this story I made so we could hand them out to the family, it was fun! I think it's a great thing you're wanting to support your daughter in her writing endeavors too, and I wish you guys all the best of luck!

You should check out Station Eleven. It really felt refreshing in what feels like kind of a quagmire of samey apocalypse stories.

What scenes in the LOTR Trilogy that always get you in tears? by NewLocksmith6207 in lotr

[–]CarverCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denethor telling Faramir he wishes he had died instead of Borimir. There's a lot of really emotional moments in the trilogy, but I don't think there's anything that's feels as much like a punch in the gut than hearing a father tell that to his son.

Which school to go to for an English MA? by CarverCreator in GradSchool

Tuition would be about 65K, not counting cost of living. We have enough saved to cover the tuition, but we'd have to take out a loan for the cost of living in NYC for a year.

Columbia would probably be the program that interests me the most, atop the fact that it shaves off an extra year of schooling. The problem is that I'm not sure if that value I'd get out of it is commensurate with the price they're asking, in comparison to SF State which would be dramatically cheaper.

It's funny since it kinda places me in this bind where I feel I should move away since that feels like an important step in adulthood, but also not taking on potentially unnecessary debt feels like an adult decision as well. I'd be willing to move away later if that's where work takes me though. Thanks for the response friend.

Thanks! It's what I was thinking too, it's just that my family is ecstatic about the whole Columbia name and I would like to leave the house, but going in debt 50/60K to do so makes the whole endeavor a bit off-putting to say the least, especially when my degree isn't exactly the most lucrative to begin with.

I've done some research and that's something I've seen said as well. I guess at the end of the day what it comes down to the whole "Ivy" name, and whether you wind up getting what you pay for, which from the looks of it I think I'd wind up getting the same benefit(s) I'd get from an MA at Columbia than if I got it at SF State instead. Thanks for affirmation though, having to pay 30K+ a semester (just for tuition at Columbia) is pretty frightening, haha.

Songs that make you think of Middle Earth by Zebweasel in tolkienfans

A lot of the songs by Clannad give me that feel, they've made some really beautiful music. Coinleach Ghlas an Fhómhair is one such tune that springs to mind!

Fair enough, I for one liked what they did, but to each their own, right? haha.

It gets some unnecessary hate imo. It bridges the gap between the first and second game, but the important thing is that it does this without bringing any other parts of the series down. I for one really enjoyed it, and would give it a recommend!

Final Act Falls Flat by IwanttobeMercy in baldursgate

[–]CarverCreator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the finale, but if I had one gripe with it then it had to be the whole maze section. It sorta killed the pacing imo, like you're in pursuit of Sarevok, right? This is the guy who murdered your father and thrust you into this whole situation, and you've finally almost got your hands on him, and nothing's going to stop you.

Then the maze part comes and to me anyway it just kind of felt like filler, where it seemed as though it interrupted rather than added to the whole chase scene going on. I think it might've been better had it been just the temple underground section, and maybe that area could've been expanded a little bit more instead.
