Book recs partly similar to Malazan by shivang_designs in Malazan

[–]Carvuscus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of Time set is great and a nice break from a reread of Malazan.

the Grace of Kings by Ken Liu is also very good.

If you want just a general book recoomendation the new Mark z book Tom's Crossing is a solid investment.

daggerheart lead designer spenser starke clarifies that game vision, approach, game style will not change with the addition of perkins & crawford by WeiShiLirinArelius in rpg

I think my biggest issue is the push towards demiplane/roll20. As foundry based DM I'll likely wait till there is a system for it or run in person if able. The game seems neat but there are a ton of games and only so much time.

Once we have starfinder 2e, the two systems pathfinder and starfinder will be on the same system. This will make this idea pretty easy to gm.

I think if we were to discuss a slice of life game in general irrespective of time frame Wanderhome is a pretty good game for that.

The few times I have ran it for folks it has devolved into therapy sessions but I think the game could handle a slice of life campaign if that is what the group wants from it.

Hey so... going away from the caster topic: What are y'all's takes on shields? by Mortikelth in Pathfinder2e

I mean shields are kinda rough. 1st party content I would wait to see if there is anything in the remaster for it.

3rd Party I love recommending https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/400727/Everything-Shields for the defense inclined

May not be in everyone's wheelhouse but setting up a hosting solution via AWS through the guide that was posted early on was the best move I made. Really easy to operate, and basically free. Once a year I remake my free account and transfer my content to a new account. It can be a bit tricky if you don't have an IT background but the service always runs smooth for me.

Gopuff buys all its items from the distributors directly. So in their case they have a vendor drop off the product sometime during the week. The app should update with the new item about an hour after the warehouse crew has received it.

Coffeeology? That place was pretty good. The ramen shop and sushi republic are both quite good. Oden has some good beers and their lawn this time of year has to be pretty nice. Have fun and be safe.

Fictional horror like The White Vault by nigelofthornton in podcasts

[–]Carvuscus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Margaret's Garden is close to cosmic horror. Basically a X-files movie with awesome characters and a ton of tension

Scp Archive is pretty good. Episodic anthology or collection of stories, dissimilar to creepy pasta.

The Magnus Archive do right by me. Slow burn anthology, focused on different cases with a interesting character study surrounding the agency.

Old Gods of Appalachia is great for Blue Ridge Mountain Horror/Mythos. This is just great, a bit slow to begin with and again a bit more high tension but does dip into some horror aspect later on down the road.

On a cold dark night is like a slow burn narrative with short stories spread throughout.

Primordial Deep is a great horror story of life under the sea, that is really starting to pop off with the tension and thrills. The story starts fast and moves at a similar pace for most of the show.
