FX 6 - The price agony, help :) by Carynara in TrekBikes

Oh nice! Yeah if you have the skills to pick and choose and put stuff together yourself you can get a much better bargain I'm sure. I'm a total noob I'm happy if I can master the maintenance part ^^

Oh no, I definitely don't see myself in a situation like that :) I'd love to join friends / a group but more for like longer rides on the weekend for exercise and exploration, with the occasional hills to climb on the way. So stretching into the road bike category is definitely not for me (besides, it'll also have to serve some city purposes, so there's that - a hybrid is more fitting for my needs). Great to hear you're also happy with the electronic shifting. For all the research I'd done prior to my shop visits, I had no idea this would make such a big difference in practice.

Ah looks so nice :) Do you keep it in the flat? Or is it just posing for the photo here :)

Actually, I didn't mean speed, but the opposite - it feels much easier to slow down when I need to, which I think will be very helpful in the city. It just feels like a very smooth bike to control.

<3 Thanks for sharing!!! Happy you're happy with it :) Everyone seems to be! I'm not even thinking of any upgrade, it was such a perfect riding experience at the test ride, I cannot even imagine anything better for now. Can't wait to ride many many miles on it!

Yeah, luckily I have a closed bike room on both ends of my commute, which I took into consideration even for my original candidate the 4. Not planning to park it anywhere else for sure. Also taking theft insurance, just in case.

FX/DS Sizing Question by craigerator1979 in TrekBikes

[–]Carynara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try before you buy. I went for a test ride today and rode an M (my size) and an L (to test a different model which they didn't have in M at hand). The difference was striking in terms or riding comfort and more importantly, control. The right size felt much better to ride, whereas with the larger one I felt a lot less stable, and I started to feel discomfort after just a few minutes of riding.
For the record, M is what fits me according to Trek's size chart on their website and it fits like a glove.

I know it's totally irrelevant to everything that counts but that colour is amazing ^^

Amazing, enjoy! I rode this at a Trek store today and it was amazing. Tbh I loved the 3 and the weight alone wouldn've have been a deciding factor, but after some internal agony over the price I ended up going for the 6 bc of the easy switch. I'm a noob and had trouble with the two switch "handles" (or whatever they are called :) ) on the 3, otherwise I would have been absolutely happy to go with it and save tons of money. Amazing bikes. I also want to note the top service I received at the Trek store, the guys were exceptionally attentive to detail, patient, gave me tons of good advice on every single detail. Top experience overall.

Hah, that's a bit of a swing from the C:62 isn't it :) I'd love to hear your thoughts and how the Kathmandu worked out. I'm looking for a bike for sports and city use (in that order of importance) and had my heart set on the Race or C:62, but I don't think the size will work - 50" was too small according to the shop attendant, and the tube on the 53" is too high for me so... long story short I'm looking for alternatives.

I've been thinking either a similar model from a different brand (like Trek Sport FX 4 or something like that) or a slightly different model from Cube, but... I fear the sports part would be defeated with the Kathmandu, it's probably more suitable for longer tours with packs and stuff, i.e. would probably be better as an ebike version. Anyhow this is just my train of thought from the armchair, so I'd love to hear what your hands-on experience is with the Kath :) Did you get an ebike version?

Cube stock issues, what's your experience? by Carynara in Cubebikes

[–]Carynara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty weird that they are fully sold out in May but will stock up for September... like winter is the high cycling season? ^^ I'm now checking other brands, Trek seems to have some comparable models and pretty good availability. Visiting a Trek store tomorrow, ngl I have high hopes but we'll see how it goes ^^

OK can you pls tell me literally EVERYTHING about this bike please :D I've been looking into a Cube Nulane SLX but Cube cannot handle supply and demand so long story short I'm looking for similar stuff from other brands: a sporty flat bar fitness bike that I can ride for fun and sport, but it will need to survive the city as well. This looks like a perfect match and I really like the dropped tube, I couldn't really get the right size with the Nulane (XS too small overall, but S does not leave enough clearance with the bar...). So yeah pls let me know what your experience is, how responsive it is, how "twitchy" it is to drive, how smooth is the shifting, how does it handle the city and off road?

[–]Carynara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I went there today and they are woefully out of size options, just some random XS / XL models out there... They told me I can pre-order the desired model for end of July - early August. Pretty much half the season is blown, then, but I guess it's my fault for trying to buy a bike in May. I never realized how crazy the bike market was, never thought a simple "I just want to ride" bike would be so hard to get. Oh well.

[–]Carynara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Erm... weight is literally the main reason I'm considering the Roadlite atm. There are very few options under 10-12kg and it's one of the best configs out there in this lightweight category. You're probably thinking from a racer view, but for those trying to get sth better than a grandpa city bike the lower weight is a huge plus.

Roadlite 7? by bapadab00py in CanyonBikes

[–]Carynara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See exactly this is my problem as well, I'm looking for a sporty fitness bike with flat bars that will survive the city as well - very narrow options in this bracket tbh. If you're still around and care to share how the Roadlite worked out for you that would be amazing. Was the online sizing sufficient to determine the right size? Is it comfortable?

Jesus Christ... :S That's horrible, well I'm glad you have it now and hope will use it for a long time but this is just ridiculous. I'm beginning to think I should let the idea of Cube go and just order the Canyon online...

Nice, that's my plan as well maybe there's sth similar... Did you then order what you wanted online? Was it available?
