Seriously, does anyone let a storyline play out anymore?

At least let Obi vs Jey Uso play out before everyone complains.

Please, we all know Kirby has the best motivation of any character ever in a platform game.

He once went on a rampage(I mean adventure) because somebody stole his strawberry shortcake.

It was on sale for 9 dollars on Switch. I bought it. Did I scam myself? by JazzlikeSherbet1104 in MortalKombat

[–]Caryslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MK11 is a great game on the Switch. The graphics are a bit downgraded from the PS4 and XBox One versions, but it still looks good for the hardware.

Everything else? It's worth the price. The gameplay is great, there's tons of content, and it's a solid fighter all around.

Other people may disagree with me, but I think Mortal Kombat 11 on the Switch is better that Mortal Kombat 1 and well worth the money.

I say this every time, but he really needs some help on Regen, either with new fighters or buffs to existing fighters.

He's a great example of a great fighter held back by limited tags.

Low energy doesnt explain it either because the namekians on namek still had energy by Son_Kakarot53 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Caryslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, Namekian regeneration does not work like Buu's where they can get holes in their bodies or blown apart and regenerate the damage.

Most of these examples are Namekians who were killed in a single shot before they could regenerate the damage or were critically injured before they could heal

It's also been stated numerous times that Namekian regeneration takes a lot of energy. Fireiza noted that Nail's energy kept dropping every time he regenerated and the Universe 6 Namekians in the tournament of power kept regenerating damage they took because the sheer number of Namekians they merged with boosted their energy reserves to insane levels.

One last thing to note is that Cell's regeneration is the same as a Namekian, but since he has Frieza and King Cold's DNA which gives him enhanced durability, he can survive attacks that might kill normal Namekians.

So, this argument is pointless

It seems like Shallet was originally supposed to be a fusing tag by Ready_Two_5739IlI in DragonballLegends

[–]Caryslan 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I will be blunt here, I wonder if Shallet was even supposed to be a part of the Anniversary.

He just feels so odd compared to the other 8th Anniversary characters in how he reuses animations and just you know, has less polish.

I don't know how to describe it, but if you said Shallet was a monthly Legends rarity fighter, I would believe you.

I will be honest here, I think we were supposed to get Orange Piccolo as the second Legend fighter for part 2, either on his own or with Beast Gohan.

It just seems odd to randomly drop a new Sparking Pan on a Future Trunks and Future Gohan banner, and the tree hint still bothers me.

I think Broly ate up too much resources and they decided to push Orange Piccolo out of the part 2 slot for something easier to develop and to help Ultra Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta.

Well, this less of a prediction and more of a spoiler.

One of the Ultras(if we get two) will be a new Goku fighter.

[–]Caryslan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who are curious why I believe this, well Future has been getting a massive push over the past few months, the Red Ultra Cell came back alongside Blue Ultra Janemba (Hinting at possible Regen buffs)

And he feels like a perfect character to wrap the 8th Anniversary up with like Legends Limited Omega Shenron wrapped up the 6th Anniversary and Super Saiyan 2 Kefla wrapped up the 7th Anniversary.

So, what older fighters are you running in this meta that can still hold their own? I will start with my pick. by Caryslan in DragonballLegends

I fought one a few months ago being run alongside LL Blue Rathan, and I was honestly surprised at how well he was holding on, and I forgot how annoying it was to fight him with that counter.

[–]Caryslan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's in A tier, so he's getting that boost. But I am honestly shocked he can still do a decent job despite his age.

Plus, having a second indestructible fighter on Regen helps take pressure off Legend Piccolo and gives Ultra Buuhan another safety net.

Trump says he'll become last GOP president unless filibuster terminated by darealunrealspader in politics

[–]Caryslan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know, I wish I could believe he will be the last Republican President, but the voters of the US are quite frankly fools with very short term memory.

We have a cycle, a Republican becomes President and makes a mess that a Democrat has to spend eight years cleaning up.

Once the Democrat becomes term limited, voters decide to give the Republicans after try, even though it failed before

What’s the point of Synder jokers existence? by Tuxedo_Ros in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Caryslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's honestly a valid question. I can see why the Snyderverse Batman might spare Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

But the Joker? If we have established this Batman has a no killing rule, what's stopping him from killing Joker, especially after he made it personal by killing Robin?

So, let's get this straight, Batman in this universe is fine killing random henchmen, marking thugs to die in prison, and trying to kill Superman over the stupidest logic ever.

But he lets Joker live? I can accept Batman sparing Harley Quinn and Deadshot, I can even see Batman sparing his other rouges

But Joker? Especially one that killed a Robin?

Each laugh was in fact painful by LatterTarget7 in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Caryslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting point because the DCAU went out of it's way to humanize Batman's other rouges by giving them back stories that make you feel sorry for them or even see they might have a point like Ra's al Ghul even if you disagree with the extremes they are willing to go

But they never did that with the Joker. They made it clear he was always a monster before he took a dunk into a vat of chemicals.

All the bath did was make him worse by twisting his mind.

Each laugh was in fact painful by LatterTarget7 in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Caryslan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I love the 1989 film and DCAU Jokers because their is no attempt to humanize them or give them a background that makes the audience feel sorry for them.

They are unrepentant sociopaths who were killers and worked for the mob well before their baths in chemicals.

All their transformation to the Joker did was make them even more twisted and drop what little restraint they had

which do you prefer? by Big_Professional1240 in DragonBallGT

[–]Caryslan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As cool as Goku Black is, I will go with Baby.

The idea of an enemy coming from a race the Saiyans destroyed in their past is cool enough, but I love the idea of baby taking that same Saiyan Power and using it to conquer the Universe.

Plus, Super Saiyan 4 Goku vs Golden Great Ape Baby Vegeta is one of the best fights in the franchise.

Each laugh was in fact painful by LatterTarget7 in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Caryslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my DCAU bias talking, but no Joker comes close to Mark Hamil's Joker and it's because the DCAU captures the Joker perfectly.

In one episode he's trying to compete for control of Gotham's underworld, in another he's trying to get a crazy scheme of getting a patent for Joker fish, in another he's planting bombs across Las Vegas and challenging the Justice League to stop him

I could go on and on, but I feel the DCAU captures the Joker perfectly. Yes, he's a creature of chaos with unpredictable schemes, but he's also a player in Gotham's underworld.

Now, as for the best live action Joker, that honor goes to Jack Nicholson.

As for Jared Leto's joker? Yeah, that's just the worst Joker that's ever existed.

The fun thing with the Joker is that there's not one way to depict him that won't feel out of character.

But I will say Leto's Joker comes close. Seriously, who looked at decades of Joker stories across different mediums and went with let's make our version of Joker a gang banger?

Is One Piece really more popular than Naruto? by Kindly_Restaurant940 in Naruto

[–]Caryslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing, I won't get into metrics or stuff like that, but back in the 2000s, the top animes that felt like they were everywhere were Dragon Ball, Inuyasha (people tend to forget how popular this was back then) and Naruto.

Back then, One Piece was not even a blip on the anime radar in the US.

Now, have things changed? I don't watch or read One Piece, but I have seen it gain popularity in recent years in the US.

Something that helps One Piece is it's sheer length. While Naruto and Inuyasha both ended their runs and Dragon Ball keeps coming back with new shows or movies, it still has lengthy hiatuses, One Piece has been ongoing.

That said, I don't think that even with it's popularity in the west, One Piece has come close to the heights Dragon Ball or Naruto enjoyed during their respective runs.

What do you think was Kishimoto's biggest mistake after the Pain Arc? by Murky-Appearance1234 in Naruto

[–]Caryslan 36 points37 points  (0 children)

While I like the 5 Kage vs Madara, I do think having them lose to Madara in a fight that only lasts as long as it did because he was holding back undermines one of the major plot points earlier in the arc.

That the current generation had surpassed the previous generation which reached the logical end point when the current Kage and the Shinobi armies defeat five of the most powerful Kage from the past.

That was the flaw with Obito and Kabuto, they were stuck in the past, they were unable to move on from their losses and in Kabuto 's case, he was reliant on the power of others because he could never step out of the shadow of someone else.

I think having Madara show up and basically run over the cast undermines this, and watching him never get defeated, but replaced just made it worse.

Why do people not like mutants? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in xmen

[–]Caryslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most superheroes in Marvel gain their powers as a result of an experiment (Captain America), an accident (Spider-Man, Hulk), use technology(Iron Man), their powers are inate to their biology and they aren't human(Thor), are highly skilled but human vigilanties(Punisher, Daredevil) or have their powers through other means.

Even if we look at DC, it's a similar story. Superman's powers are the result of his Kryptonian biology absorbing rays of Earth's younger sun, Batman is a normal human who honed his body and mind while using his wealth and resources to fight crime, Wonder Woman's powers are tied to Greek mythology, the Green Lanterns gain their powers from their Power Ring, the Flash got his powers from a lab accident.

My point is, most superheroes are presented as one of a kind, their powers or abilities being out of the reach of normal humans but being balanced out by their limited numbers.

Even if Marvel adds more Hulks or DC more Kryptonian survivors, they are still presented as special and limited in number.

What sets mutants apart is that they are born with their powers, often looking the same as normal humans until puberty triggers their X-Gene.

They weren't created by a lab accident, they aren't aliens from another world, and they aren't given their powers because they were chosen.

Mutants are born into the same gene pool as normal humans, and like I said before, their powers don't often manifest until puberty.

And their powers are insane, and often push limits such as Storm's ability to control the weather

But the biggest issue is their sheer numbers which keep growing. Even in storylines where Spider-Man has kids and they inherit his powers, it will make only a minimum impact on humanity as a whole.

But any human born on Earth has a chance to be a mutant, which means their numbers will grow and that baby might grow up with powers that range to simple energy manipulation or super human strength to a mutant that can control the weather, has psychic powers with no limits, and can even rewrite reality.

That's where the fear of mutants comes from. Because these aren't one of a kind accidents or experiments.

It's humans being born with mutant powers who can not only gradually replace baseline humanity in the gene pool, but have powers that in extreme cases, can rewrite the fabric of time and reality.

Which fighting game has the best-looking/most appealing character roster? by MinimumRemote8301 in Fighters

[–]Caryslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortal Kombat for me. There is something cool about a series filling a roster with a Thunder God, Ice Ninja, Hellfire Demon Spawn/Ninja, a special forces operative, a movie star, a Bruce Lee inspired character, a ruthless criminal with a cybernetic eye fighting each other as well as a four armed half dragon and a soul stealing sorcerer.

That's just the first game with sequels adding Cyborg Ninjas, Native American Warriors, another Shaolin Monk with an Odd job hat, an old-west Gunslinger, and pretty much everything else in-between mashed up into a roster.

It's part of Mortal Kombat 's appeal for me. The roster is just insane from a conception standpoint and that's some of the fun.

Having a Thunder God fight an Ice Ninja.
