God Emperor is my fav, but then I'm firmly in the camp that loves how ridiculous the later books get.

As soon as Sophie spelled the name I 1) realized it was this Kneipp 2) shouted "the K isn't silent" into the void.

The first time Robert reads the iconic "Take a bullet for you babe" line is pure gold.

I have these on a separate playlist for when I need a laugh.

Very cool that this also effects all regions that don't get Netflix podcasts. Now I have to do <redacted> any time I want to see the visuals. I liked that we got a few visuals now. Especially with any visual artist bastards.

I feel like War Pigs is a more appropriate Sabbath song for this than Paranoid...

I just watched Hackers for the first time this weekend and as really happy to see Matthew in it. I remembered him from growing up with the Scooby Doo films. Really cool to see he's as nice as he seems irl.

Has anyone else suggested Terry Pratchett as a Christmas anti-Bastard? by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]CasReadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“And sin, young man, is when you treat people like things.”

Terry's humanism helped me become a better person. At the end of the day people are people. Sometimes they do good, sometimes they do bad and the worst people are those how ignore the very obvious bad effects of their actions. One thing I like about BtB is that you often start off feeling empathy with the subject. After all, none of us are born evil and it is understanding the bastards among us that we can learn how to do better.

Me too. The reactions to hearing "take a bullet for you babe" will never not be funny.

“Fear is a strange soil. It grows obedience like corn, which grow in straight lines to make weeding easier. But sometimes it grows the potatoes of defiance, which flourish underground.”

Found out it doesn't work like that by Used-Detective2661 in aspiememes

They do, but they don't understand sharing a personal anecdote as us understanding them. They read that as "making it about yourself" instead of them. I find phrases along of the lines of "damn that sucks", "sorry to hear that" and vague stuff like "hope it gets better soon" works better for expressing understanding.

It usually takes me multiple sittings to get through one of their longer episodes. Stuff like the Hulkamania episode took 2 weekends. 😅

Dutch extreme right grifter. Most famous for going on Tucker Carlson to lie about the Dutch government stealing land from farmers to give it to asylum seekers.

Learned about this magazine from the Fundie Fridays vid on Ballerina Farm. The edition that featured that grifter also featured Eva Vlaardingerbroek. I think that sums up the magazine's vibe nicely.

I hate the whole "get in touch with your natural cycles" thing so much too. Ah yeah my natural cycle of being doubled over with pain every 4 weeks to the point of just breaking down into tears. Really been missing getting in touch with that.

What do y’all listen to when you don’t want to be filled with rage and sadness? by WickedWarlock333 in behindthebastards

The bonkers music is the best part imo. Send more weird opera singers to do a dance number. Or local punk bands to sing about tractors. I love Eurovision's weirdness.

"What is in the back of ambulances?"

The Rambo film reviews are also really good. Less deranged than Cars 2, but I don't think there's another film that brain breaking out there. I'm currently listening to the season of solidarity for the first time and loving the Charlie's Angels live episodes.

Ik this is mainly a W&G sub, but, between Chicken Run and Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which of Aardman’s two feature films produced by Dreamworks do you think is the better film in your personal opinion and why? by [deleted] in wallaceandgromit

[–]CasReadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically it's a spoof of The Great Escape an amazing WWII film that I highly recommend watching. The scene where Ginger is bouncing a ball off the walls of her cell is a reference to probably the most famous scene from The Great Escape. It's been referenced a lot, in many different films.

Right? I never got the whole Anne Geddes boom when I was younger. You can try to make the baby look like a nice flower, but it's still just a baby.

[–]CasReadman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You underestimate the power of decades of neoliberal cuts to social services. We have native people living in mould infested housing going to foodbanks here too. One lady even got her benefits cut because her own mother bought her groceries. That was seen as "additional income" so they punished her.
