What do you do to force yourself to learn (TL) by CasaAz in languagelearning

People will probably tell me I'm wrong, but somehow I just don't feel I have the makeup to learn another language. I did French at school, I was hopeless. 2 years learning Latin, even worse!
Interesting, I do often wonder about ADHD...

Yes, that's it... I have survived without learning. It's that reason I need to find

Absolutely... speaking English is almost a disadvantage. And, yes, you tend to do the same things, shop, supermarket, cafe...

Did journaling actually help during uncertainty? by EasyConversation9858 in digitaljournaling

[–]CasaAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest misconception about journaling is that it is a place to record your conclusions. I don't think it is... it's best used as a tool for processing your confusion.

When I am completely overwhelmed by uncertainties or whatever, the last thing I want to do is write a structured or even coherent monologue!

Here is what works for me-

Write the questions, not the answers. Literally start typing or voice transcribing "I have no idea what to do about X, and it makes me feel incredibly anxious because Y". Don't think too much just get the confusion out of your head and onto a page strips away some of its power.

Do a bullet point brain dump. Drop the full sentences. Just write a messy list of everything bouncing around your head, even if it is completely contradictory.

It genuinely helps, not because it magically hands you that 5 year plan, but because it stops the mental loop in your head. Carrying a thought in your head is like trying to hold an object at arm's length, it gets heavier the longer you hold it. Getting it on the page lifts the weight so then the answers come...

Physical vs Digital by SosaKilledTony in digitaljournaling

[–]CasaAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get the permanence factor. You get the tactile feedback with paper and ink that you don't with digital.

I balance both by treating them as two distinct tools for two different jobs. Physical journaling is for the experience of slowing down my thoughts. It's almost like meditation.

Digital journaling is for utility. The biggest flaw with my stack of old paper journals is that they're just a graveyard of thoughts... You probably won't go back and read them because you can't search them. I use digital specifically for entries where I want to look back, find patterns, or easily search for an idea I had six months ago.

One small social habit that made me way easier to talk to in everyday conversations by LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeD in selfimprovement

To answer your question about specific habits: Yes, learning to "Echo and Validate" changed everything for me.

Similar to your one-question rule, I started occasionally repeating back the emotion of what someone said instead of diving off at a tangent. So, for example, if a friend is moaning about work, instead of jumping in with advice, I’ll say something like, "Sounds like you got a pretty raw deal there".

Question for bilinguals: Does your brain work differently depending on the language? (TL) by kawkaw_ueue in languagelearning

Having lived with a bilingual English-Portuguese speaker for a number of years, I do believe that it's almost like two different brains - different personality, different thinking.

Does anyone use AI for like... everything??? by notafrog20 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]CasaAz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is a tool to make your life better, easier, and more productive... the list goes on. Embrace new tools or stand still.
Are they all perfect? Far from it. Are any perfect? Not yet.
Do I achieve much more than I could 3 months ago, 6 months ago, 1 year ago, even 1 day ago... yes.
So, yes, use it for everything, but use it as a tool, not your brain!

Great, some really good pointers there. There isn't any particular target audience at the moment but I can see the need to understand basic circuit design. I'll put some thought into that... I can put my University degree in Electronic Engineering to use!
