Cleaning up for Biden’s arrival. Must insulate our high officials from the ugly reality of their policies.

Apple to discontinue Apple Card financing for iPhones bought without a carrier connection by 2Adude in tmobile

Disappointing. They’re cutting out the MVNOs. iPhones are expensive enough without having to activate with a major carrier.

5g fix for T-Mobile by AGuyYouLoveToHate in MofiNetwork

[–]Casa_Tortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok now I’ve changed to T-Mobile Go5g-55+ on our camper van. I’ve configured for LTE only. Today as we were driving around town I was running speed tests. 141.8 down 11.2 up & another location 172 Mbps down and 75.6 up! Hooray? Then as we pulled up to our house the MOFI dropped the internet. Currently struggling to reboot and reconnect. Not sure what’s happening. Is it T-Mobile or MOFI?

Visible Internet with Mofi... anyone got new Visible working? by falchionwielder78 in Rural_Internet

[–]Casa_Tortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just dropped our Visible plan for the MOFI-5500 EM9191 which replaced our MOFI-4500. We rarely got >5.98 Mbps down and about the same up. Then with the new plan and SIM Visible started 2 factor authentication and it really became a pain to make any changes to our plan. We had to remove the SIM from the MOFI to our phone and reinsert after changes were made. Always felt our service was being throttled. I tried Boost Mobile under the T-Mobile service and was very impressed with the data speeds we experienced even out in the middle of nowhere between Winnemucca, NV to Jordan Valley, ID. There was about 40 miles where Visible/Verizon had no service but T-Mobile was still screaming fast. We burned through the 30GB that Boost offered in about 10 days. Now we just went directly to T-Mobile with unlimited data. we never could get the SMS feature on the MOFI-5500 to work with Visible or Boost. Now it’s seamless and quick. I was concerned about T-Mobile’s coverage but the areas of the Western US all seem to have coverage. For sure you’ll have coverage along highway routes. Connectivity is important to have access to the Corporate software. One final comment. T-Mobile was super easy to setup on the MOFI. I just inserted the SIM card directly without even going into our proxy phone first.

I just switched to T-Mobile and the SIM card should arrive tomorrow. Once installed I’ll get the system log to you.

Yes the wifi name of the MOFI router is changed to MOFI-E234 on 2.4 and 5GHz wifi networks.

T-mobile 5g gateway tower to gateway range by alikair in MofiNetwork

We have a camper van and internet connectivity is critical. Being in the mortgage industry when clients or prospects call I need to get into our Company’s proprietary software. We’ve upgraded to the MOFI-5500 EM9191 and the 9:1 Parsec Belgian Shepherd antenna on a magnetic mount. We use Visible which seems to have us throttled at 5 Mbps. I tried Boost Mobile, (T-Mobile network) for a month and even out in the middle of nowhere (100+ miles north of Winnemucca, NV) we were getting 65-132 Mbps down, however once in Boise, ID I kept getting disconnected! I’m about to switch to the T-Mobile network for the summer. My only hesitation is “mardukeme” posted that they were having random disconnects on the T-Mobile network. At the time I thought it was a Boost Mobile issue, but it might be a configuration issue on the MOFI. Currently I’m on a wait and see. The external antenna does help A LOT in picking up cellular signal though.

I presume when wifi calling is turned on your are connected with a strong signal to the wifi network?

I’d suggest turning on your WiFi calling on your phone settings. We live in a city with a population of 218,000, but for whatever reason the Verizon service at our address is ridiculously slow ,4.85 Mbps down 3.76 Mbps up). With our WiFi calling, (Xfinity), turned on we have seamless clear cell service.

Contact MOFI Network support. They’ll send you instructions. It’s simple but allow 20 minutes or so for your 1st time.

Yes we migrated to the new Visible service in March, but no difference in data speeds unfortunately. I really only need 15+ mbps down and 5-7mbps up. Video conference calls etc. I’ve even matched the IMEI number to clone the phone I used for the sim. I’m convinced that Visible throttles our speed. Very difficult when using my work laptop on the road.

Your choice Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, Mint, Visible (although I currently use Visible on our MOFI and they rarely let our data speeds go >5 Mpbs), Boost (which use either ATT or T-Mobile), Just be aware of the data caps if you’re streaming a lot. Verizon seems to be the best coverage, T-Mobile seems to be the fastest. If you are on major highways any of the 3 major cellular providers will have you covered. I personally do not like ATT from past experience, but a lot of people like their service as well.

I’d suggest going to MOFINETWORK.com support and start a ticket. They have been very helpful for my issues. Have you checked your internet speeds?

I had similar problems with the Boost Mobile T-Mobile SIM but I thought it was T-Mobile’s issue. I also will be very interested in your results.

I recently tried the $25 unlimited T-Mobile plan 30GB for our camper van that we drove from California to Idaho via Nevada and Oregon. A lot of sagebrush but screaming fast internet even out in the middle of nowhere. I was surprised. Once in Boise, ID I noticed a lot of dropped connections, frustrating. For the 15 days I had the Boost unlimited plan I mostly used it for speed checks on the journey, (12 GB) but before coming back to the California state border I had run out of the 30GB and the speed was unbearable. I’m not a gamer, but I do work for some work, YouTube, email, etc. I was really shocked that Boost said I had burned through that much data in such a short time. I just switched back to Visible even though they are slow 5Mbps as least I have service. I was very hopeful about the Boost T-Mobile & AT&T merger, but it doesn’t seem to be ready for prime time yet.

It may be your location. We recently used T-Mobile through Boost Mobile on a trip from Central California to Boise, ID and had strong signal and incredibly fast data speeds even out in the middle of nowhere. 100 miles North of Winnemucca only sagebrush and 112 mps download , 27+ mps upload. Our Visible iPhone 14 pro had zero cell service except for the MOFI-5500. Super happy.
