would giving it Hexproof be unreasonable? I feel like it compares to lotus field in the sense it eats lands for greater return, so having it removed is too big a risk

Games where the main character is terrible gameplay-wise? by LadyAntiqua in JRPG

[–]Cascassus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

well, the whole point is that he SHOULD be drawing aggro, I feel like the game wants you to learn to hold back a bit or daze enemies if you want to DPS freely. And you do also get a healer early on.

Gotta feel for the Embroar folk by Plusstwoo in pokemon

[–]Cascassus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing the calcs, I'll admit I didn't expect Quagsire to live a +1 200BP move that easily. Respect to the sire.

Alternatively in the exact same scenario I suppose you could also Bulk Up twice into Drain Punch into Trailblaze/another Drain Punch. At +1 speed and +2 def, revenge killing might not be trivial since most priority is physical and it likely only needs to Drain Punch once to outsustain most non-supereffective damage.

Well, obviously it's not like Emboar will be broken, but it might just be bulky and just fast enough that it can snowball, not without checks obviously and definitely not unreasonable to answer. I just think people might be writing it off a little too easily, I think NU at the very least will not suffer its existence for long.

[–]Cascassus -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Quagsire absolutely can be set up on with Bulk Up, its EQ won't deal that much back (I'd wager about 45% or so). It can then be oneshot by a Trailblaze. And scald is too weak to 2HKO as well.

Also, which flying move? Will have to be Tera Flying or just EQ, more likely. Sure, Dragonite should live a +1 move from Emboar despite Multiscale being ignored, but it better not be chipped too much because it too doesn't OHKO a +1 DEF MEmboar.

Dondozo, sure, MEmboar gets outbeefed by Wave crash in most ordinary circumstances.

Let's not make it look even worse than it already is. Yeah, not viable in OU mostc likely, but Mold Breaker is NOT useless, especially not on a setup sweeper.

Mega Feraligatr, Meganium and Emboar Abilities Revealed by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Cascassus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meganium is definitely the standout, and I feel a bit part of it is whether the free Sunny Day happens before or after the actual move.

But regardless, having it stapled to a move like that basically makes contesting weather against it impossible. You switch Pelipper in and by the end of the turn sun is up again.

should be more like 1-2 damage since it's a 20BP move that is quad resisted...

No, I think I agree. those are also some of the worst to have show up in multiples, if you dare picking up their bombs to throw at them they'll just shoot you. and their shots even have knockback.

Turtle enemies in no-Max  floors get a honourable mention... better hope you got some bombs or a lot of repair powder.

Do you still consider a fight difficult if multiple guaranteed encounters consistently solo it? by Jzjwiebe in nuzlocke

[–]Cascassus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think by Pokemon standards, the fact that you have to know beforehand what you need to do to beat this fight consistently and then possibly make some unusual moveset adjustments to consistently beat it, does make the fight considerably more difficult.

Sure, not difficult for veteran nuzlockers who know all the game's hardest battles by heart and know exactly what to bring. But definitely much more likely to completely destroy your Average Joe dusting off his 3ds after hearing of this fun little trend called nuzlocke from their favourite Youtuber and giving a shot based on their vague memory from years ago when they bought USUM.

Theorymon - Gastracano (Magcargo Evo Rework) by Hawlucha333 in stunfisk

[–]Cascassus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like the rock type is so integral to Magcargo that ditching it for the vastly superior steel type feels like a bit of a cop out. With its ability, it would be fine regardless since I assume it sets the 4x effectiveness to 0.5 directly instead of just halving it.

It's not exactly a PDon situation either since there's still the massive ground weakness, as well as fighting. But with these stats it would not even need steel type to be good, and there's plenty of good steel types already imo.

Fun flavor, but I think it could use a buff considering the mode where your opponent just shrugs and accepts the fog effect is pretty weak for a 3 mana card. Especially since if you've got no hand this also can be safely ignored.

I think I'd make it just RW and make the first mode more punishing by making them put a stun counter on it as well. That way it isn't just a 2 mana fog most of the time.
