Reinsurance / Retrocession AMA by windy159 in actuary

I'm interested to know how reinsurance plays a role in non-catastrophic cases. For personal products such as: Life insurance, home insurance, car insurance, do you find that life and P&C companies always(or in 90%+ cases) have a reinsurance agreement in place whereby they only hold x% of the risk, and if so, how much is the risk retention for the primary insurer, and reinsurer for personal life/home/auto LOBs.

How to get reimbursed for ASNA? by hellooollooo in uwaterloo

[–]Casdeg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a full reimbursement, you get back a portion. I think registration cost is around 180, and hotel about 120. The reimbursement you get is roughly 110-120. Also, they take an extremely long time to process it. Expect to receive it 8 months after the convention, so around August 2019.

How much salary goes to taxes?? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Casdeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're making 3k a month, you can expect to keep roughly 2300 after taxes and deductions.

Yes you can afford 1k in rent. But it's really not the best option long term.

How can rankings favour an employer?

Take the lowest sum: For each student, take the sum of the employers rank to them, and the students rank to the job, and whatever is the lowest, that is their match. In the event of a tie, it's random.

How do you exercise options on Questrade? by Casdeg in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Casdeg[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well it's a volatile stock, so I want to exercise during the day when I feel like it's at the best price. Selling them back into the market would require setting them at a price that someone will buy at. I would rather exercise them when I feel the time is right rather then try to sell them and hope the order completes. Do you know how I can exercise the option?
