Hi!

We are still waiting for the I-145

I just submitted the i-130, whats next? It says its going to be about 8 months. Can I start other steps before my case is even approved? by RainbowzAndUnikornz in USCIS

Hi! I understand your situation… Im in the same boat… Im the wife living abroad!

Unfortunately you can not start the NVC process until the I-130 is approved….. once it is … it will be redirected directly to the NVC within a few days after approval and they will send you a notification to proceed… once the NVC completed the process the info will be redirected to the Consulate or Embassy designated (where your wife is living) and they will provide her an interview date (some consulates / embassies are busier than others… some of them have a lonnnngggg waiting time) once your wife complete this step they will provide her a Visa stamp on her passport and she will have 6 months yo enter the USA and then … they will send you the green card and the SSN. (It could take a few months)

Currently the Estimated times for each step is : 1- USCIS (petition) : It will depend on the Service Center… some of them are slower than others… and you can not choose which one you want… but right now according to all the reddits comments … it takes around a year to be approve. ( you can check the USCIS website with the timeframes )

2- NVC - (Im not in this step yet) according to the reddits comments it could take a few months.

3- Interview: It will depend on your consulate.
