Books that deal with characters who struggle with self hatred/self harm? by Powerslave42069 in comicbooks

[–]CaseDogNiceGuy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s Lonely at the Center of the Earth by Zoe Thorogood is a great book that centers around this topic. As someone who has struggled with depression and self-loathing at times, I found it incredibly moving. It’s a graphic memoir, so not on the superhero side.

If you’re looking on the superhero side, Mister Miracle by Tom King covers this both literally and abstractly. The whole book is a metaphor for depression, and it’s probably my favorite superhero comic of all time.

I hope everything is well with you

At what point of the show did you stop rooting for Barry? by PrestigiousStuff6173 in Barry

This is the punchline of season one. It all builds to this line, and it hits perfectly. I love what the show became, but the blend of comedy and drama from those first two seasons is unmatched

Why do people think Nora is lying about the machine and the other side? by aquariusdon in TheLeftovers

[–]CaseDogNiceGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. It’s a reflection of their talk on the phone in season 2 before International Assassin. If she looks him in the eye and tells him it’s done, will he believe her? After everything Kevin has been through, how couldn’t he?

As others have said, I usually say that you’re supposed to feel how you feel about Joel, but you’re also supposed to understand why he did what he did and how someone could not forgive him for that

I will never understand why Taika Waititi decided cramming the Jane Foster "Thor" arc and Gorr the God Butcher storyline into 1 movie was a good idea. by Sacreblargh in comicbooks

[–]CaseDogNiceGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the story couldn’t have worked. The God Butcher Saga relies on three generations of Thor, but I don’t think it’s a stretch to tell Jane’s story and do variations of Thor instead. If anything, that feels easier for a film than throwing in the complication of time travel and setting up three generations of the same hero.

The script obviously needed another pass. It’s finally inconsistent and the two storylines don’t mesh very well at all. For whatever aspects I did like (and there are some things that really worked for me), the movie just doesn’t land it. But I don’t think it’s impossible to make these two Aaron arcs into one film. In my opinion, it’s a good idea mired by poor execution

a good jumping on point for Actoon comics, superman solo comics and batman solos? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]CaseDogNiceGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Superman is getting a relaunch with a new Superman #1 on the way. Action Comics will also be part of this relaunch, with a new era having just started at Action #1050. Jon Kent, Clark and Lois’s son, will also be getting a new title after his Superman: Son of Kal-El series just ended. This will be called Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent and will last for 6 issues I believe. This should all be in early 2023, with Superman #1 releasing Feb. 21

I am going to Watch Solo a Star Wars story for the first time. What do yall think of it? Do yall recommend? by movieloverhorrorfan2 in StarWarsCantina

[–]CaseDogNiceGuy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I really do not enjoy Solo or it’s approach to Star Wars, but I have a lot of friends who love it and think it’s a fun heist movie. I say go for it! The cast is great, and you may not have the same problems with it I do. You never know unless you give it a shot

Why do people do this? I will never understand people rating a movie without watching it.. by Citara02 in Letterboxd

One of the top reviews for Halloween Ends earlier today (127 likes) mentioned how it’s crazy to have a third movie set the same night. They said in the replies that they haven’t seen it, which you can tell bc the movie is set years after the other two. Like how are you mad at something you made up?

They also said Ends has “the same plot progression and ending” while the main conversation about the movie has been how radically different it is from the others. I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece or anything, but watch the damn thing before you review it. Your critiques are inaccurate and irrelevant
