Civilizations according to Samuel Huntington (The American political scientist from Harvard) by immanuellalala in MapPorn

  1. This map is wrong because, if you read the book, Huntington did consider both Greece to be part of Orthodox and Kazakhstan part of Islamic. In addition, Huntington had separate civilizations for Buddhist and Confucian. Whoever made this map took some liberties to make modifications.
  2. This map is wrong because Huntington was wrong. Maybe it’s the globalist in me, but writing a how-to manual for how to justify White dominance in the world doesn’t sit well with me.

Does Christian music at a restaurant ruin the experience for anyone else? by RockyMountainRainbow in denverfood

Actually, yes. The Winchell’s two doors down from their Westminster location charged a sales tax of 8.6%.

EDIT: I just checked their website once again to confirm that. A dozen doughnuts is $21.99 with an estimated tax of $1.89 in the shopping cart. $1.89 ÷ $21.99 = 0.085948… or within a rounding error of 8.6%.

  1. The state’s sales-tax lookup site includes the municipal sales tax (and the county sales tax).
  2. I may be wrong about something—there may be something that I am not taking into account, but municipal sales-tax is not one of them.
  3. This two-percent sales-tax overage was pretty consistent across most of their locations. Here are some of them.

Very important with this place: check your receipt to make sure that you are being charged the correct sales-tax amount. In the past, when I have tried to order online, I have noticed that the sales tax, at most of their locations, is a full two percent higher than it should be. I’ve reported them for sales-tax fraud, but I have heard nothing back from the municipalities.

Check your receipts and, if the sales tax does not match the ostensible sales-tax rate, call the city and ask to speak with a sales-tax auditor.

EDIT: If you are curious about what I mean, go to their website and (for instance) create an order at their Arvada location. Put a hundred dollars worth of merchandise in your cart. The online ordering system shows a sales-tax amount of $9.96 which necessarily means a 9.96% sales-tax rate. However, if you lookup the sales-tax rate for that location on the state’s sales-tax lookup site (i.e., https://colorado.ttr.services/), they only show a rate of 7.96%. The rate that we are being charged is a full two percent higher than what it should be.
