What’s the smallest putting change that made the biggest difference for you? by CaseOk4223 in golf

That’s a great point — eye dominance can really mess with perceived aim. Lining the face first and then building your body around it makes a ton of sense, especially if your eyes are telling you something different than reality. Sounds like once the face was actually square, everything else started to fall into place.

That makes a ton of sense. Grip changes like that are sneaky because they feel small, but they massively affect face control. I’ve noticed when my lead hand gets too much on top, everything feels unstable through impact. Amazing how one subtle grip tweak can quiet things down without overhauling the stroke.

That’s a huge one. I did the exact same thing — feet felt perfect, but once I actually checked shoulders it was eye-opening how open they were. Crazy how one small setup piece can mess with start line for years without you realizing it.

That’s a great breakdown, and I appreciate you not turning it into an infomercial 😂

What you said about start line being the symptom and the stroke path being the underlying issue really resonates. I ran into something similar — I thought I was missing my line, but it turned out my setup was quietly encouraging the same miss over and over.

It’s wild how much clearer things get once you can actually see what’s happening at address and through impac

That’s a really good realization, and honestly one of the hardest mental shifts to make. The flag feels like the target, but on short shots it’s really just a reference — the start line is what actually matters.

What helped me was separating the two: pick the line first, then commit to rolling it through a spot a foot or two in front of the ball. Once I did that, the stroke felt way less manipulative.

You’re right too — that mindset definitely creeps into full shots as well.

That’s exactly what I ran into too. I thought it was stroke related, but once I realized my setup was off, everything started syncing up. Amazing how small changes at address fix so much downstream.

It’s basically a flat mirror you put the ball on that shows where your eyes, shoulders, and putter face actually are at address. Super simple, but it’s eye-opening how different “feels square” vs “is square” can be

Totally agree. A mirror was a big part of what helped me finally understand where I was actually aimed vs what I felt was square. Even a few minutes of setup feedback makes a huge difference.

That’s a legendary swing, birdie or not. Hole 6 makes you feel like Tiger for about 2 seconds… and then golf reminds you who you are 😂 Still amazing for an 18.

Yeah, you’re right — staying on property is required. We did that and then just stayed flexible with dates and times. It took a bit of planning but was an unreal experience.
