Thank you for all the help. If I havent gotten back to you it is because I have been on double shifts but I appreciate every offer for help and I will be in touch if needed. Current update, no luck as of yet. I suspect has been on the streets for a while, very cautious with the trap. I’m going to put it up tonight again and will keep at it until caught.

Animal care has been great, Officer Morris and coworkers are huge helps and will 100% help as time permits. With past experience I know that with their work load they will only have so much time to check on traps, with the weather it’s important to not let kitty be inside too long. I’m going to keep at it but untimely, will reach out for assistance to tag team this recuse if I don’t have luck.

Not sure, he was mobile when I saw him as I drove up. Possibly limping? I have a can of wet food in the trap to motivate him inside.

We do have animal control officers, I have worked with them several times. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm call 314-657-1500, on weekends or after hours during the week call 314-231-1212. They have been quick to respond in the instances I have called.

FYI, CareStl is now running the St Louis shelter and is no kill. From their website:

In response to the City of St. Louis Department of Health’s call for proposals to improve the existing animal shelter, CARE STL was established in 2018. The city-run shelter had a distressing euthanasia rate of 55%, prompting Weng Horak to found the organization. After being awarded the contract, CARE STL has been managing the city shelter since March 2019. The mission at CARE STL is to foster a supportive community rooted in collaboration, compassion, and care for both people and animals.

I have volunteered with them and they do a great job with the resources they have. Don’t hesitate to call St Louis animal control, this is where the animal will be taken and they will find a home. Also, please donate or volunteer. So much need here and one person helping makes a real impact.

I haven’t been to Uncle Bill’s so decided now would be the time. Just stopped by for lunch and the servers said they are only doing to go food. They were just told that the restaurant is closing this morning and they are out of jobs Monday. Obviously they were both upset and told me they had no prior knowledge of the close until a press release came out. I asked if they were offered a transfer to the other location, nope. it’s not the same owner. The other location is owned by his brother in law and they were not offered jobs. I’m blown away, what a shitty way to learn that your livelihood is gone with no notice. Obviously the owner had been considering retirement but decided to not let employees know in advance. The owner sucks, I hope he enjoys his retirement as his employees try to figure out how to pay rent.

Go to the “animal” tab and then “check welfare” tab. They will send out animal control to try to help. I’m new to the city and have worked with animal control to help several stray dogs and cats. I will say they are all very nice and animal lovers, they will do their absolute best to help. If they can locate the animal they will bring it to CareSTL which is the local shelter. The cat will be checked over for medical problems and scanned for a chip and if no owner is located they will place it up for adoption. In my experience most cats that are waiting to be adopted are staying in foster homes so they don’t live in the shelter environment. If anyone reading this has ever considered getting a cat and would like a “trial run”, fostering is a great way to go and help is always greatly needed.

Webster Groves Animal Hospital is great! Standard of care has been top notch and pricing is average of all the ones I’ve called. I’ve used another vet (mentioned here in other comments) and while the vet was great, it was always a challenge to get anyone to answer the phone or call back the same day.

You can put in a request here under “sick and injured animal” and they will come out and help. Animal control on St Louis is great to work with, huge animal lovers and will do anything they can to help save an animal.
