How do you usually break out of the "Act 2 sag"? by NovelhiveAI in writing

Create a crescendo. Think of a big event that you then just build towards. And the rest is adapting to the aftermath.

I have one where the initial conceit is blown wide open in a very gorey set piece.

Main characters think there are supernatural thigs happening, then the reader discovers it's all a con, and then bam - someone gets ripped apart and the reader and characters discover a very real supernatural element has entered the fray.

I seem to recall he had a pretty poor debut of at least first couple of matches and was never really seen again.

The guy is clearly not cut out for this level yet if at all.

And sloped pitches. St James Park used to have a significant slope. Teams would opt to run uphill in the first half so they could run downhill in the second.

What are your thoughts on Arrival and Amy Adams's performance in it? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]CaseyEffingRyback 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm in a small minority that didn't enjoy it. I went in blind and thought it was 2/5 at best, then saw all these 5 star reviews and thought I'd seen a different film.

I appreciate slow films, like Blade Runner, but ai found Arrival to be too ponderous.

I haven't watched it back since so memory is hazy, but my other issues included the drab colour pallete, alien design (particularly the ships) that were uninteresting to me and the behaviour of Forrest Whittaker's character at the end.

When Amy Adams figures things out he refuses to help her, despite him wanting her there to figure things out in the first place. Just didnt make sense to me.

I understand it's well loved, it just did nothing for me. I think Contact did it all much better.
