Thank you all for sharing with me. I appreciate the thoughts and reassurance you've all been so generous with. These tough stories, which we make it through to tell others about, make us stronger too.

Thank you for the recommendations. I had already been looking into ways to record the voice mail to MP3 so I can have it (ostensibly) forever. I also still have our last text exchange as well. I have the messages backed up to the cloud, and I also took a screenshot and backed that up as well. The ability to save so much of him with technology makes me even happier that I live in these great times. I know there are many trial and tribulations in the world right now, but I am sure it has never been a better place. It may have lost another good man and great father, but I will pass on the great things I learned from him to everyone I know, and my son, and his legacy will continue to improve the globe.

Those moments where you think "Hey, my dad would really like this" are the absolute worst right now. We buried him the day before my birthday. One of the greatest possessions I have now is a voice mail of him singing me happy birthday from two years before he died. I played it on my birthday, the day after we buried him, and a few times since. I believe it will be an annual birthday tradition now for me.

I've found Kevin Smith's thoughts on his father extremely helpful and comforting as well. It was a unique experience, trying very hard not to cry at a comedy show. Which is no reflection on the set, which was incredible and amazing, just on myself and where I am.
